After joining this site and finding this forum, I want to share my stories with everyone here. However, I am unsure of the copyright issues. I have been directed towards a website, FictionPress.com, and I was wondering what sort of copyright protection I could expect from this website. At the bottom of each page is this copyright notice.

If an issue came up in later years when I would like to attempt to get these stories published, would this copyright notice be admissable is court.

I am not an attorney and I do not know anything about copyright law in the Grand Duchy but you may find some interesting information here:

IMO, just about anything is admissible in court. Whether it helps a case or not is another matter. But if you're afraid of people stealing your intellectual property you might not want to make it available online and just finish what you have and submit it to a reputable publisher.

My copyright attorney actually suggests registering each piece I do with the copyright office. yeah right... Although it is not needed per say (see link), it basically solidifies a case (makes his job easier) and boosts the monetary renumeration.

I actually had a fairly busy site (12house.com) using one of my animated graphics on there home page illegally a month or so ago. I had recorded all transgressions (I also embed nearly all my work with copyright info) but the graphic was removed quickly and it was not worth the time and energy to pursue legal action, and rarely is IMO. And if anyone from 12house see's this I am flattered but next time ask...lol.

But again, if you are going to be losing sleep about your stuff getting ripped off online then you probably should not put it there.
