first off, i appologize for bumping such an old thread, but i have some fair stuff to add to this thread.

I am David Aranza, Im 20 years old, I was born in Houston, Texas, and i have lived in Humble, Texas for the past 9 years.

int he past year or two i got fairly interested in the ghost things [not much besides reading online] and i discovered alot of interesting things about Humble.

turns out this entire area was originally an Oil field, then the town was built on it. ive seen and heard of quite a few things

but anyways, id like to leave that for other stories [or another psot in here if i get postive responce], the reason i bumped this thread is because i have actually walked along these traintracks and around these woods, and i took a digital camera and took pictures of things, and a few of them had some interesting things...
First, this image, this was taken as we walked in torwards the woods. we had no flashlights, was just mea nd some friends screwing around, our cellphones and my cameras flash was the only light source we had. looka t the bottom, notice the glow of light/fog?
http://img201.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc01092ec2.jpg
second image: obvious smoke/fog. keep in mind that no one was smoking at this time, there was absolutely no fog around us that night. it was a nice clear night [a bit chilly i admit, but not enough to even cause our breath to show when we breathe]
http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/7047/dsc01105lr5.jpg
More fog...
http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/1610/dsc01108lh7.jpg

Hi Dragonskull,

What time did you walk on the tracks? Was it raining before your walk? Was the fog already in the air while walking and was it visible for the naked?

The church is gone and a storage building was built in its place. I have a few items in storage with them right now. Mostly my hunting equipment. Nothing weird yet, but plan to have my items blessed before taking them to the hunting lease.

Have any of you ever heard of this area of North Carolina called "Sedgefield"? I've been there once, and I must admit that there was some weird things happening there. There was also some weird vibes. The story behind the place was that this guy that used to live there practiced black magic, and ended up killing his family there. I've looked for info on this but came up with none. I'll continue searching to see if I can find something.
maggie_13
the story is interesting and creepy. anyways, there's a similar story that happened in a local area in my country. it's quite long but pretty nice I must say.

here it is:

This story happened in the summer of 1984. It was semester break then, so I was out of the city, enjoying my vacation at my ancestral home in Bicol.

My bestfriend Anthony and I had borrowed my Mom's car to cruise for the day. Living in a small town, we sort just followed the road. It's not a road that I was very familiar with as it turned from asphalt to dirt a few miles out. We just kept driving, singing along with the radio. We had windows down, letting the wind make a mess of our hair.

Before we knew it, we had passed an old abandoned church. Curious, we turned around and went back, parked the car, and began checking things out. Upon closer inspection, the church didn't "look" abandoned: no weeds, no broken windows, and the inside was spotless.

Now, this may seem odd but being where we were and given the fact that the church was (almost) completely empty... we got spooked.

All we found in this church was a crucifix, lying on the floor like it had fallen from the wall.

There were a couple of rooms, perfectly kept, and a tiny bathroom, also neat as a pin. At this point, we began to feel as if someone was watching us, so we decided to make a quick exit.

Anthony and I drove around for another hour or so, then headed back to my house. He spent the night and went home the next day.

Two days later, I related our discovery to my friend Pete who was enthralled by our outing and wanted to go check out this church for himself. I agreed to go along the ride because he didn't know where it was. We arrived at the church, parked, and got out of the car.

Immediately I felt a presence, like someone was watching us. I was ready to get the hell out of there! Pete, however, had other plans. He had reached the steps before I did and made his way into the church.

When I reached the front steps leading into the church, I freaked! They were rotten and most of them broken; there were weeds growing up through them. I made my way inside only to discover that most of the windows were now broken; there were a few trees growing in through the broken ones.

The entire inside of the church looked as if it had been abandoned for years. Ceiling tiles on the floor, in some places, holes in the walls.

Now this may seem perfectly normal to see an abandoned church, and to see that it's been neglected for some years. The weird thing is that only two days before, it was in perfect shape. I know that it takes longer than two days for a building to get into such disrepair.

All this combined with the feeling that someone-or-something was watching us, scared me.

Needless to say, Pete and I beat a hasty retreat.

Maggie,

This thread is about 1960 Overpass. Please post your story in another post. Now back to the thread, I was in the area yesterday and decided to walk around the tracks looking for signs. I was alone at around 2200 hours. Then as i got near the suspected cemetary, I heard running in all directions of the wooded part. I immediately started chasing the source of this noise. I could not tell if it were animals or something I was chasing. I am going back with some more people.

I plan on going sometime soon. Is the entrance near the Best Buy and Home Depot area, or is it under the 1960 overpass?

I usually enter through the trails behind the movie theater or panchos restaurant. The I walk north on the railroads tracks. I would not recommend going alone as you might encounter something. I have visited this area so many times with different people and saw nothing. Then I decided to venture the same area alone and thats when something strange happened.

What happened when you visited alone? Or did you post that story earlier in the thread... if so, just tell me the page and I'll read it.

I went tonight with some friends. Nothing strange happened. Just met a hobo and he kind of became our tour guide. I got some pictures, so I will post them later, but there is nothing strange in them.

I'm going to try some places in Spring next time, I suppose.

Moogle, Maggie and Sumisu...

Moogle, read the whole thread. It is one of my favorite here at this site and is very interesting. Another site sprang up more or less because of this one haunting, though there are other hauntings on that site also. Point being, this one is very intriguing and worth your time.

Maggie-Tonecop is not trying to be offputting. It would behoove you to move your interesting story to its own thread as more folks would see it and possibly respond about it generating your own interest where everyone knows where its at rather than being buried with this old thread.

Sumisu-Same thing as Maggie. Start a thread...please. Some of us want to read this stuff but don't know where it is when it doesn't have its own thread.
kiddglock

Maggie I just want to re-emphasize to you that you should start a thread on this story of yours. It is most interesting. Probably this forum is as good as any.

Was this hobo in good shape to run from someone? I remember chasing a noise and they were fast. No it was not an animal as I can tell the footsteps of a human and animal.

me and my wife as well as some spiritual friends of ours have been investigating this site for the past few days of the 1960 overpass area. since then we have seen alot of what is true about the legend of the woods. we found the moved cemetary as well as a few man made water holes about as big as a bus is long in diameter and unknown in depth. unfortunitly, when we found the second one we started to hear the laughter of little kids and the kicking of cans and we had to turn tail and get out while we could.

From what we have discovered is that a satanic cult has taken up in the woods. there are markings and signs that point to the woods area. When we were first seeing the cemetary area, we noticed fresh pvc pipe marking some of the graves as well as fresh american flags on some of the graves. i dont know what that means but as soon as i can get back there in the day light i will take pictures because the area is way less active during light. Alot of the tombs and concrete coverings in the yard have been broken and alot of the graves have been dug up as if they were moving them or someone is grave robbing them. I will say the area is still as dangerous as previously mentioned on here. Now the really interesting part is that we do have one EVP that we recorded from when we all walked the railroad tracks. at about 2:30AM. in the file my wife is asking why (whoever was around us) it was staying here. soon after a bit of silence, you hear a voice wisper "anne" not too clearly but its very hard to miss. i have cleaned up the audio a few times and tried to center the vocals of it and it appears to be a legit EVP. We havent taken to many pictures cause we are usually to busy with keeping protective barriers up and carrying around our boakin's. I can try to post the EVP as a file to where everyone can listin to it if they wish.

If you try to look at the area from google earth, you wont be able to find much. the tree cover is very heavy.

Also we have found another site not too far from the overpass that is very demonic. If you follow the train tracks south, you will come upon an abandon mill of some kind. Foundation and a few utilities are left but the site is used by a cult of some sort from the looks of it. i have not researched it much but it turns out that during texas's early years during the santa ana occupation of southeast texas during the war, the city of humble was just a few buildings and a saw mill. supposidly santa ana came through and pilaged and burnt down the town. what he did after that was he took the workers at the saw mill and layed them accross the railroad track and ran them over with a steam engine all in one time. the legend is that the same rail line that runs through old humble is the same rail line those men were killed on. I also know one other story but i havent investigated it yet.

randomhit10
cool story...keep me posted on your investigation by post or by message....be very careful...if what you say about the cult worship there it could get dangerous, both physically and spiritually...

I live in TX and if you turn up something interesting pics or video I may make a trip to investigate myself.

!UPDATE! We revisited the overpass last night and found out some interesting things. for one, we now deam the train track areas off limits for an entrance. we nearly got smacked by 2 different trains. if we had not have watched our backs or the block signals we would have been like some of the bones we saw near the rails. Another thing we saw that grabbed our attention was the sighting of three people. When we got there, we examined the area under the overpass and saw the train coming. when the train passed, we saw three teen age kids running north on the tracks. for those of you not familier with the compass direction, they would be going toward the old cemetary in the woods. when we all finally got on to the tracks and looked north to see if we could see them, we saw all three head into the woods at three different spots. after this, we went down the tracks to investigate the three spots. not only did we not find a trace of them, but it seriously looked to be like they were ghosts themselves. to be honest they could have been demon spirits or just lost souls. but it was 2 guys and a girl. that whole rest of the night, our tape recorder picked up sounds of cans being kicked, extra foot steps, and a feeling like we were being pushed forward. We also got to investigate the bridge further north and found tons of satanic and neo nazi and demonic graphetie on the west side of bridge on the underside. Also we found traces of blood on the pavement which could have been human or animal. it was dried but still fresh for how much rain we have had. We still havent done a day investigation yet but would still like to. During the day investigation we will take photos, video, try to get an overall scoop of whats under the tree top. not to be off topic but our group started a myspace and we will post our investigations, photos, video, and EVP's on there. click here to view it Spiritual Beginings

Hey I live in that area! My friend is really in to ghost hunting and I’m big in to urban exploring. We both read about it in Weird Texas and loaded up gear and checked it out with some buddies, never any success though.(people with no interested in the paranormal can take the fun out of it) I have never heard anything about the railroad being hunted and the story of Santa Anna killing people with a steam engine that’s got to be some old stoners tell. The railroad wasn’t introduced to this area of town until the turn of century (late late 1800s). The only thing Santa Anna would’ve been killing people with would have been old P.S Humble’s ferry. Now that would’ve been quite a site.

I wouldn’t doubt that some Goth kids thought it would be a great idea to place some pentacles on the old bridge that stands over the San Jacinto. However it was a rumor I heard in high school that some kids got chased by some devil worshippers in humble, but the sources were some kids on acid. (I heard this story in 1994)
If you can get some photos and some EVP recordings posted here I would love to shoot it over to my buddy. I do fill inspired by your adventure and might have to mount an expedition to witches castle in Waco.
RollingThunder06
Am surprised with how active this place seems to be that not more videos and EVP's are popping up on this. Always be safe and please keep us posted.
nemonic-hunter
ill post the recordings here in this post! remind you this is our very first EVP recording. Also we were walking along some railroad tracks. My wife is the one speaking and she told all of us to be quiet. The EVP occurs at just after 50 seconds in. We used a high quality digital voice recorder that uses dual mics for stereo sounds. At the time of the occurance, both mics were pointed in the direction of the woods. Since the file is double the size of the posting limit, ill make a link to it from my site. click here to download the EVP i own the site its downloading from so no worries.

Hi,

My names Amanda and my boyfriend and I have been very interested in the 1960 overpass 'stories' for quite some time now. Only we aren't sure exactly where it is, so in turn we're going tonight to check the place out. But from your gatherings i was curious of your personal opinion on the matter of it being safe, spiritually.
nemonic-hunter
there are alot of theories we have right now on the area and where things were and how it all came about. for one the abandoned mill down the way we are still investigating. we saw that you asked for an add for our club. just give us a call so we can all meet up and discuss that area. We also need other people to come out with us to investigate the area. PM me if you would like to join us. If you are available on short notice, we are going out there tomorrow night after a car meet. You can find us at 59 diner on 249 and 1960 from 930PM till 1130PM. If you come, call me on my cell phone at 832 660 1834. Just ask for joe. be sure to bring flash lights, bug spray, a side arm of some sort (small knife or something for protection), and any spiritualy powerful items. be ready for a night of interest and discovery if you come.
ColdTwilight
To bad I'm 17, I'd love to go with you all and do some investigative work. Especially since I started to become more open minded to these sorts of things.

I have alot of interest in this area and I'm wishing you all the best of luck, stay safe out there. maybe someday I will join you wink2.gif

well the weather may prevent us from going out there tonight. so i will update later if we went or not and if we did i will post an update.

this haunting has me really curious, my brother was killed in a motorcycle wreck on 1960 towards huffman and crosby in jan. he was hit by an ice cream truck. i never had any clue that the overpass on 1960 east was this sinister though. I am from lufkin, but am in galveston right now camping at the state park. thank god for their free wi fi, can anyone tell me any good places in galveston to look at as far as hauntings. I am limited today due to rain and etc. BTW my brother lived in newport in crosby and there was some pretty crazy stuff that went on in that neighborhood. happy july 4th

Hey, previously i've been quite active on the previous 1960 overpass thread made by some guy in the forum which i forgot his name. Its quite interesting that you've got more in detail than he has, however be very careful in your exploring during night and also keep us update and i will regularly visit your account that you have in myspace for new pictures. Too bad i live in australia, but im very interested in all these supernatural occurance.

thats possibly done by the cults and used for the rituals they perform, some cults even require people to bring a human skull to gain membership.

what kinds of symbols did you find out of curiosity? can you draw them in microsoft pain or even on paper and scan them in.

i pray that you are protected from whatever the hell is out there.

well unfortunitly, due to the approaching weather system and the fact that it was only 3 of us, we opted to go either this thursday or friday. Anyone wanting to join in plz feel free to contact me and let me know. we have a really good pic of an orb trail which is rarely seen in even photographs. ill post it on the myspace page for all to see. It was however taken under the 59 san jacinto river bridge looking east. more info on it in the myspace thingy.

Hi Nemonic-Hunter,

My group has originally toured the area and we did manage to get one EVP. The sounding was taken from JuleNTX and the sound was indicating "Washington" after we asked who was in the area. I was in the area about three to four weeks ago and chased a noise in the woods north of the overpass. Please contact me as I have some valuable information if interested.
OriginalGuest
I guess it really doesn't matter much how I feel about this (that the place is definitely NOT haunted in any way)--but the amount of people going back there is quickly turning into a flood. Please, whatever you do, don't mess the cemetery up more than it already is.

By the way, there is a road right next to the underpass that leads to the cemetery. Just hop the gate and follow it; much safer than following the tracks, especially at night.

Edit: I've lived in Humble nearly all my life and have never heard of Santa Ana coming through here. The abandoned equipment is from the oil boom days, one of the old saw mills, or from the train company, and the farther back that way you go, the more you will find. There is nothing sinister about it.
nemonic-hunter
yes thats how we found it in the first place. only thing is when you start to find recently desicrated graves and wood clearing that has been there a while like someone stopped and ran off, then you start to wonder why they ran off. also ill mention again, the markings and the tags all over the place. plus the fact that we found alot of stuff recently changed. especially between visits.
nemonic-hunter
we will be going out there tonight, tonecop45, you have a PM.

!Update! well we went out there again, except this time we went south on the rail road tracks going past the old church/putt putt golf center. we found a bunch of trails that lead to behind the old theater. also found a bunch of dead animals. the wierd thing about that area was the was the trees and the vines grew. its like they were hiding something. i shot video of the whole thing. we took one of the trails and we uncovered some interesting stuff but we got chased out of the area by an unknown force. we are gonna do another investigation of the cemetery area as soon as we can recruit some people that want to go with us. need like 2 more people. PM me if you wish to join us.

A whole new thread has recently sprung up.

Hello everyone, I apologize for not responding for so long, life bogged me down >.>
I'd like to add that a few months ago i was with a girl, after we watched a movie, i mentioned the railroad tracks (it was a few months after posting my first comment on this site) she wanted to go see, so i took her. we went to the railroad tracks and walked them for a while, at first we didnt notice anything, we were just walking, talking, flirting, u know, what young people do best tongue.gif

but after a few minutes, something TOTALLY ruined the mood. we were walking and suddenly i noticed, something was following us in the woods. i heard rustling going from the brush that was to the west of us. we were standing directly on the track, about 40ft south of bestbuy, and directly to our side (west) in the very beginning of the woods and weeds, we heard something rustle. at first i figured 'ehh, its just a bunny" but i couldnt see anything, ive gone hunting quite a few times, and thats what it seemed like, rabbit or coon' just walking through

but after a few more moments of this, i started to get worried. most animals will NOT literally FOLLOW you. whatever this was, was actually walking up and down the tracks with us, but staying out of sight. when we would walk it would walk, you could hear the russtling of the woods, but if we stopped moving, it would come to a halt as well. the only reason we noticed it at first is because when we stopped, it would still be moving for a moment before it stopped (Simon Says theory original.gif)

after noticing it literally following us (we were walking both up and down the tracks, and it was right next to us the entire time) i took stick i had (due to the gravel on the sides, i used a stick to help get me and her up it without slipping, darkness + loose rocks = owwy)which i chunked at the direction the sound was going in, figuring that it was just some animal and i would scare it away. well when i threw the stick, everything got quiet...me and her started walking with me constantly telling her to calm down its just an animal (actually i was freaked out, but i didnt want HER freaking out yaknow?) and after a few paces, i heard it rustle back through from where it had stopped moving, right back up with us...thats when i told her "okay look, i was just bluffing, i have no clue what that is, can we get the hell outa here?" we went back the way we came ASAP and got back to the car and left. i had enough for one night -.-

I'm also going to try to get to everyones questions:

Hey, David, do you think it would be possible to take a few pictures of the gate and road that leads to the cemetery? I don't have a digital camera and my scanner is busted.

actually i dont have any clue where the road and cemetary is, i would love to do it, if someone could give me directions for getting there, im actually interested in going to the moved cemetary, but ive never seen it before, i have a bunch of hunches as to where its at, but no clue on -where- it is.

Hi Dragonskull,

What time did you walk on the tracks? Was it raining before your walk? Was the fog already in the air while walking and was it visible for the naked?

it was late, those pictures were probably taken around 11-12pm, it had been raining off and on, but no, that entire day was clear as can be, and the closest body of water was pretty far behind us.the fog was NOT in the air when we were walking, we never saw -anything- and not all the pictures came out like that, i took about 20 pictures, most had nothing, but the ones i posted had what you see.

The church is gone and a storage building was built in its place. I have a few items in storage with them right now. Mostly my hunting equipment. Nothing weird yet, but plan to have my items blessed before taking them to the hunting lease.

mind telling me exactly what storage place it is? id love to know for sure which one it is...

I plan on going sometime soon. Is the entrance near the Best Buy and Home Depot area, or is it under the 1960 overpass?

ive gone by the 1960 overpass and im sure theres an openning in the fence SOMEWHERE, but for me, my favorite area to go in is behind home depot, because its easy access, close video recorded parking lot for your car, and a fairly easy escape route back into civilization incase something very bad were to happen

Hello everyone, I apologize for not responding for so long, life bogged me down >.>
I'd like to add that a few months ago i was with a girl, after we watched a movie, i mentioned the railroad tracks (it was a few months after posting my first comment on this site) she wanted to go see, so i took her. we went to the railroad tracks and walked them for a while, at first we didnt notice anything, we were just walking, talking, flirting, u know, what young people do best tongue.gif

but after a few minutes, something TOTALLY ruined the mood. we were walking and suddenly i noticed, something was following us in the woods. i heard rustling going from the brush that was to the west of us. we were standing directly on the track, about 40ft south of bestbuy, and directly to our side (west) in the very beginning of the woods and weeds, we heard something rustle. at first i figured 'ehh, its just a bunny" but i couldnt see anything, ive gone hunting quite a few times, and thats what it seemed like, rabbit or coon' just walking through

but after a few more moments of this, i started to get worried. most animals will NOT literally FOLLOW you. whatever this was, was actually walking up and down the tracks with us, but staying out of sight. when we would walk it would walk, you could hear the russtling of the woods, but if we stopped moving, it would come to a halt as well. the only reason we noticed it at first is because when we stopped, it would still be moving for a moment before it stopped (Simon Says theory original.gif)

after noticing it literally following us (we were walking both up and down the tracks, and it was right next to us the entire time) i took stick i had (due to the gravel on the sides, i used a stick to help get me and her up it without slipping, darkness + loose rocks = owwy)which i chunked at the direction the sound was going in, figuring that it was just some animal and i would scare it away. well when i threw the stick, everything got quiet...me and her started walking with me constantly telling her to calm down its just an animal (actually i was freaked out, but i didnt want HER freaking out yaknow?) and after a few paces, i heard it rustle back through from where it had stopped moving, right back up with us...thats when i told her "okay look, i was just bluffing, i have no clue what that is, can we get the hell outa here?" we went back the way we came ASAP and got back to the car and left. i had enough for one night -.-
I'm also going to try to get to everyones questions:
actually i dont have any clue where the road and cemetary is, i would love to do it, if someone could give me directions for getting there, im actually interested in going to the moved cemetary, but ive never seen it before, i have a bunch of hunches as to where its at, but no clue on -where- it is.

The storage building building is on the other side of the tracks behind Panchos restaurant and dollar theater.

ill post the recordings here in this post! remind you this is our very first EVP recording.

Your EVP is interesting. Other than the questions asked, were you and your wife still and silent during the recording? I ask because there are a lot of shuffling sounds in the audio. After you asked "Why do you stay here", it sounds like someone is shuffling papers.

I live in Houston and my girlfriend and I have been haunted by a few different ghosts for the last few months. I'll see if I can get my EVP online at some point, but I have the sound of a little girl sighing, among strange clicks, knocks and pops. We recently moved to a new apartment due to the hauntings, but the strange noises and occurences are slowly coming back.

*QUICK UPDATE* we have been recently trying to uncover information about an abandoned neighbor hood that had the plots outlined, but nothing built. we think it may have something to do with the old mill.

If you follow the train tracks south, you will come upon an abandon mill of some kind.

about how far south from 1960
