A couple who gave up their jobs for a round-the-world trip have flown home from Australia after being told their cat was missing.

Mandy Lewis and Adam Fumagalli had just arrived in Sydney when they got a call telling them Molly the cat had disappeared.

The pair booked a flight home to the UK after being told the news of their cat's disappearance by Mandy's mother.

The cat was being looked after by Mandy's brother who'd rented the couple's home in Ledbury, Herefordshire, reports the Daily Mirror.

Mandy and Adam had visited India, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore and Bali on their £16,000 trip.

Adam said: "I know giving up the trip of a lifetime for the sake of a cat is beyond ridiculous but that's what we did. I wouldn't have been able to lie on Bondi Beach in the sunshine thinking about Molly lost and shivering in a bush somewhere."

Despite an intensive search the couple were unable to locate Molly.

Mandy said: "We would have hated to come home next April and find Molly was still missing. It took us less than five minutes to decide we had to come home and do everything possible to get her back."

This may sound silly but I would do the exact same thing for my Forrest. He's the best cat I've ever had. I probably wouldn't even have left him in the first place.

I hate to admit it but........I would too !!!!!!!! how sad is that ? but what can I say, my cat and dog are part of my family so nothing would be too much effort for them.

I have an outdoor cat who goes missing for days at a time anyway, but I would definitely come home if my dog was lost

I know this is going to sound stone-hearted but i would not have worried about the cat. I lived on a farm and killing animals was a way of life. And my family has gone through about 30 cats in 5 years so I tend to think of them as somewhat expendable. sad.gif If there are those that love cats I'm sorry if you find this harsh. It's just the way I've been raised. dontgetit.gif

I trust you're not randomly killing cats? huh.gif

But yes, I'd be on the first flight home too...pets do manage to squirm into your heart somehow tongue.gif It sounds stupid until you find yourself in that situation...I think 9 out of 10 people probably would have done the exact same thing.

I think I am on the other end of the spectrum from crosswarrior. My wife and I have raised our two cats since they were one week old kittens, and they are like our children.

Actually they are very often better than children in that they never complain, talk back to us, roll their eyes, or give the attitude that teenagers are so good at.

I would definately come home if the little guys went missing...I certainly wouldn't be able to stay and have a good time thinking about them being lost...

I love kitties, and I miss mine dearly...
Doggies the same.
I would come back... but I don't think I would've ever gone in the first place!

No Seraphina ohmy.gif . About 10 have died from diseases. The rest have been eaten by the pack of Cyotes that circles our farm every night. We have tried for years to thin the pack down; but they only come out at night, and they always stay out of the light.
We are looking into getting a night-vision scope for our rifle. Perhapes then we shall even out the odds. I HOPE SO! It gets annoying having to hear them yelping night after night.

The cats out here on my island (yes its MINE) are the social equivalant of rats. It is a sad state. All of the cats on my side of the island are feral and eat from trash cans. I have tried many times to tame them, but they are too scared. The teenagers out here do the most heinous torchers to them. I have never seen, but heard many stories about kids playing baseball with cats. I have heard stories involving cats and fishing poles, weed wackers, you name it. I have heard that if you tie the tails of 2 cats together and hang them by their tails , they will scratch each other to death. sad.gif crying.gif sad.gif crying.gif crying.gif crying.gif

OMG! Moe, and I always thought Hawaii was paradise! I'll never feel the same about it again (and I've been there before~of course I only saw the 'touristy' part of it). There are new laws being passed that make it a felony to abuse an animal, and fortunately, it is being implemented here (unfortunately, it's become necessary at all) sad.gif

Poor Molly! I could never let my kitty go without food and shelter! Well I hope they found her!
Did it say in the article if they found her emmy?
Anyway if my little furball got missing I would try to find her- even though she's a indoor cat. original.gif

Happy Holidays! original.gif

I'm not a pet person myself, really, I haven't had any pets for years, but whenever I hear about animal cruelty it makes me SO PI**D OFF!!! I'd just love to catch one of those pervs and...and....well, suffice it to say they would wish they hadn't done it. How anybody can do that kinda stuff is beyond me.

BTW, I don't think I would've given up that trip to go back and look for the cat, but I would've had somebody looking for it (or them) for me.
