A lot of you have been sharing poems and stories, but I have found very few photos here. So I decided to share a few of the pond I reciently installed. It's about 10 feet long, 5 feet wide, and 2 1/2 feet deep. I have koi in there, but they are too shy to show thier faces. So here is the pond in pictures... I also posted more on my blog.

^The view from the water return. It's where the water that is pumped to the top is dumped into the stream.

Wow, that's pretty cool and it really is a work of art. thumbsup.gif

I wish I could do something like that but I live in an apartment, so...

Very nicely done, rosenrot! looks completely natural. Beautiful layout! Looks like pics out of 'Home and Garden' magazine. Did you find the rocks in the wild around there or did you have to buy them? My Sister has talked about doing that in her backyard. The end result must be worth the effort. You just need a small Nessie in there. Richie.

Nice work rosenrot original.gif

Tell your sister to go ahead with it. They are definatly worth the effort! I had someone who does this for a living come out and give me advice on how to put the equipment in the ground. Some of the rocks were half a ton, so I did have some help there. And most of the rocks come from the woods around my house. Oh and I have a picture of a Nessie that I saw in someone else's garden. I'll post it later. Not on the right computer.

blush.gif Aww shucks... You guys make me blush...

Oh and another thing I forgot to add about the pond. It is loud! There is a highway that runs near my house; the sound of the water completely drones out that of the cars. I like to call it my own little Rhinefalls. It's really peaceful at twilight sitting on the rocks, listening to the water, and watching the fireflies play in the trees.

Wonderful pictures, Rosenrot! You might want to browse the Photography thread in the General/Off Topic sub-forum of Hobbies and Interests. It's too bad that it wasn't moved to this forum since it is indeed an art.

There's also Rogue's Gallery specifically for member photos in the Community board. But, you have to ask yourself, how important is it that you keep your PM inbox free of unwanted messages? wink2.gif

For Richie, here is the picture I took of a Nessie someone had in thier garden. I kinda want one for myself.

Hi, rosenrot, that is one cool garden ornament! It would be more natural in a pond, though. Maybe a waterspout. Thanks for showing it. I wonder where you can find these. Haven't seen any at garden centers. I like the head design. It looks to be 3-4 ft. tall. Richie.

You know, when I first moved into the house, I didn't like the backyard because it is an acre of woods. I wanted a patch of grass so I could have a swingset. I have never had a swingset in all my years of being a child! But I have come to love it.

Aww, you guys are soo sweet blush.gif And I bet those frogs are LOUD! The second night there was water in the pond the chorus began. It was soooo loud we could hear them inside the house with the windows closed.

I think these are cast locally. I have only seen them in one other store in the area. As far as water fountains, I have only seen Eastern-style dragons, no Nessie. And I think the hight was closer to 4 feet, because it was almost as tall as I, and I am 5 feet tall.
