Without telling too long a story, I pulled out my Drivers License today, (no, I wasn't pulled over), to check the expiration date on it for a form I had to fill out. Guess what!?! It expired in April. LAST April!
I was so happy I went running around the office clicking my heels and walking into walls.
O.K., now, just for fun, let's everybody else pull out their Drivers License and check the expiration dates on them. Yes, even you Mrs. "I'm a Mod and I don't Have To". It's only fun if everybody plays.
The next one with an expired License, own up to it and post it out loud for everyone to hear, and you'll get to be "UM's Resident Bonehead for the Day". I'll have UM's mailroom clerk, Mrs. Helen Waite, send you the Crown, (read: "dunce cap"), and Royal Sceptor, (read: "Toilet Plunger"), C.O.D. If you'd like to avoid the shipping costs, just go to Helen Waite for them!
Actually, I posted this as a sort of public service message. It's one of those things that you never pull out unless the cops ask you to so, it IS kind of easy to forget when you are supposed to renew them. It's also pretty easy to get a nice fat traffic citation for letting it expire as well. Just trying to remind you to save yourself some money. Have fun!

YOU GOT ME!!! Mine expired last February!!!!! AAAHHHHHHHH!!! And just think, I flew to Los Angeles in May, used my driver's license for ID at airport security, and nobody said a word. I also had my passport -- but still -- I'm wondering if an expired license shouldn't have caused a security concern??? Or maybe it isn't a big deal, in that case.
But now, crap, they will probably make me take both the written and driving test over again! AAAAHHHHHHHHHH!

Don't feel so bad, I mean, how often are you asked for your I.D on a daily basis....unless you've done something wrong....I equate it to not readily remembering your cell phone #, how often do you call yourself?
That being said, last April is a BIT of a long time, LOL.

Most places I've lived - in the west and midwest - send out a notice when you're license expires. Maybe it's different in the south..

It depends. In sopme states it's four, in others it's five. Georgia now offers the option of a ten year license, for an extra fifteen bucks.

They are supposed to here as well but, as you pointed out, this is the DEEP south. And let's not leave out the possiblity that I just over looked it.

lmao... I had to go through something similar to get my son's learner's permit.. it would have been easier getting through an airport with an AK47 slung over my shoulder.

Doesn't the state send you something in the mail asking for their renewal fee? I'll have to check mine, but I'm pretty sure Mules don't need liscences....

I had trouble getting my learners premit when I was 15. Turns out that when I was born the nurse put a Jr at the end of my name on my birth certificate and then removed it with white out. Although it was probably acceptable to do that at the time, when I went to get that license, they were afraid that I might have modified my birth certificate! I had to go get a signed and noterized letter stating that it was in fact my real, unadulterated birth certificate.
I had the foresight to keep that letter. I keep it all in one neat little file now so I can prove that I am not from Mars.

This state is stupid... Depending on your birthdate (I believe it's based on even/odd dates) for example if you were born on the 9th, you renew after one year. Then when you do that, it's good for 2 years, after that two years is up, then it's good for one year again and so on--2 years, 1 year, 2 years, 1 year. Stupidest thing I've ever heard of.
I did exactly what LU did... I didn't realize mine had been expired for year... I didn't have to take the tests again, but i DID have to pay a FINE for not realizing it was exprired... a $75 fine--it ended up costing me $117 to renew this year. *sigh* Isn't that State racketeering?
