I think some are being a little harsh on Jpatt, he may be somewhat skeptical but he's got just as much experience if not more than most in this thread when it comes to Ouija boards. His view is just as valid as anyones from experience. I've chatted to him a good few times about Ouija boards as well as debate with him in numerous Ouija threads over the time. While he may not believe that spirits are involved he doesn't believe it's just nothing or made up, his alternative view is worth considering as i think 50% of the time spirits are not involved but something is with our sub/consciousness.

We were being "harsh" you say?

In the immortal words of General George S. Patton, "They say I give 'em hell. I just tell 'em the truth, and it sounds like hell."

As I stated earlier, it wasn't ipatt's "views" I was condemning, but rather his insulting manner toward the rest of us when sharing his views.

When he complained about being flamed, I merely pointed out why.... ohmy.gif

Except for my obviously satirical statement about my keen analytical mind detecting well-disguised tongue-in-cheek humor, I stand behind the entirety of the rest of my statements as objective and factual expressions of my opinion of the majority of the posts on this subject. Where I use the term "nonsense", for example, it is strictly by-the-book: is it in any way sensical to believe that a mass-produced plastic and pasteboard device allows you to contact the dead, or evil spirits? No, therefore that most certainly falls under the category of nonsense and I will not mollycoddle those that insist on perpetuating this myth at the expense of tainting useful and practical information.

Personal attacks, or "ad hominem" attacks, are rather hard to conceal, and making judgments about a person's debt of character or inability to make friends are most definitely easily differentiated from statements criticizing a lack of critical thinking in a particular situation, regardless of how you attempt to justify such attacks to yourself or others.

Most of the other posts in this thread (the creative writing and stories etc notwithstanding) and others only propogate fantastic myths and again legends, with no critical approach to the subject itself, which is a disservice to the people posting them and to people that are interested in a comprehensive overview of the many sides of the Ouija issue.

jpatt honey, Holding your head and kissing each cheek, because I miss you and love you and I'm so glad to see you, "they don't care what your opinions are". If your opinions don't agree with theirs than they aren't going to even consider what you have to say. And they are going to make fun of you and find ways to insult you. I'm sorry!
In this part of this forum, unless you agree with "them" than you are an outcast and your words mean nothing.
I know that you are wise and know more about this than anyone else here, but they don't. They don't care what is factual or even what is real, it's become who is popular, kinda like high school. Remember that? God help us all!
This is just a lot of people reading a made up story of some guy on his ouija board. If you'd like to start a real topic on it, I have a story or two to tell.

You guys are missing out, because here you have an expert, if anyone can be an expert, on the ouija board and you are too busy insulting him to hear what he has to say. That's just really sad. But I wouldn't expect anything less from you all.

Obviously you didn't read this (ahem) "expert's" insulting posts, which started this debacle. I merely pointed out that his insulting choice of words while expressing his opinions resulted in him being flamed.

I found an interesting link that lists many of the Ouija Board experiences most of us have heard about. I remember when this particular incident was an episode on Unsolved Mysteries:

Six United States Army soldiers went AWOL when a Ouija board warned them of a coming global cataclysm. Broken taillights on their Volkswagen van gave them away and police arrested them. The six, all with top security clearance, were headed west to live "like a survivalist group." An FBI investigation uncovered their Ouija board manifesto complete with accurate prophesies of the Gulf War and the earthquake in Iran. New York City's destruction by a gas leak and the second coming of Christ have yet to occur. The Army was understanding of the situation and gave the men honorable discharges but reduced them in rank and docked them a half month's pay. The group's leader currently tours and gives lectures on "self-sustaining" lifestyles.

No, I read his post's from start to finish. He wasn't insulting.
He only stated his opinion and differing opinions, do seem to be considered insulting by some. I'm sorry that you took offense to a differing opinion. Maybe if some were a little more open-minded?

Good try at what? Logic?

If your call your argument "logic," then you need to buy a good dictionary.

You blindly state ipatt "wasn't insulting" -- notwithstanding that I quoted his numerous insults in red font. I mean, how'd you miss that?? Moreover, if others, myself included, were insulted by ipatt's personal attacks and negative choice of words, then that judgment call is OURS to make, not yours. Kapeesh?

It's obvious you have jumped in here simply to "get a piece of the action" and add insult to injury with your sorely apparent BIASED view -- much the way a drunk jumps into a barroom brawl -- since you came out swinging blindly, insisting others took offense to ipatt's "differing opinion."

Either that or you are lying when you say you have read his posts. But whatever...

First of all, no one really gives two hoots and a holler about ipatt's opinion, said opinion, as I have said, should have taken only "six" little words to share: "I do not believe in Ouija Boards."

So please stop slinging insults and accusing everyone of taking offense to ipatt's "opposing view." An opposing view is nothing to be offended by.

However, what you seem to have completely and conveniently overlooked is ipatt's characterization of himself as having a "keen analytical mind" (oops, I forgot... he was being "satirical"...) while characterizing the opposing view as "ignorance," "nonsense," "alarmist propaganda," as well as making uneducated comments like, "omg itsa deemen," and calling others "naysayers who miss the point" who are "spooked by superstition."

Did you catch all of that?? I mean, I didn't use red font that time, so I hope you were able to grasp.....

It's more than obvious that it's ipatt himself who has taken offense to differing opinions, just as it's more than obvious you love a good fight and need to get involved. But you seem to be in a battle of wits here, and you've stumbled out unarmed...

"Logic" -- a science that deals with the principles and criteria of validity of inference and demonstration.

I believe I have validly inferred and demonstrated my point.

However, all you have offered is, "he wasn't insulting," as well as accusing others of "taking offense to a differing opinion," and "not having an open mind."

Now, this barroom brawl is officially over. The overhead lights are on, the chairs are upside down on the tables, and they're wanting to mop the floor. (hint-hint)

Shoo!

I havent read the whole thread but to the OP. Why are you asking if God exists? If you believe you are talking to spirits and are using a board then guess what, God exists by association. If God did not exist there would be no spirits demons devils etc. So the choice is still up to you, believe or don't believe.

"lol internet", PS: the screen name is J. Patt (J as in Jerk)

Firstly, I appreciate the kind words from Anvil and Cyqe, and I am not trying to rain on anyone's parade, nor "hijack" a thread... that is ABOUT Ouija board experiences... I make no assertions that Iron Ghost should NOT post his stories here, however, that is NOT the purpose for this thread, its poster or this category, whereas discussion of real Ouija subjects is - therefore to claim "hijacking" is laughable at best - stick around the internet a few more years and you'll discover how forums work.

The fact is, this is a public forum, meaning its open to all views if presented in a civil manner - I will go so far as to say some of the phrasing I have used seems to have been inflammatory and that was not my intention so if I am guilty of any true "wrongdoing", I will admit it is there.

As I said, this is a public thread open to anyone, and may be read at any time, in 2007 or 2010, therefore my posts provide a differing viewpoint to the already saturated examples of hardline spiritism. This means I am posting for OTHER people's benefit, people that may not even be reading this thread currently, but may come across it later. And yes, I do believe people can indeed make a difference, can convince others, through their writing, if their writing causes one to reflect on a subject and approach it from a different perspective - I don't believe it is just my writing that does that, I think all posts do, that is the reason I add my thoughts to the fray, call it "balancing the Force" for all I care, but its perfectly valid.

Tiggs
Ahem.

I'd like to remind posters that if they have an issue with a particular post, then they should use the report button in order to get an impartial decision from the Moderation team, rather than turn the thread into a "Was Mr X flamebaiting" debate, which in itself, could be considered to be flamebaiting.

It is, after all, one of our primary functions.

I'd also like to remind everyone that both skeptics and believers are very welcome within this forum. In my personal opinion, it's the blend of the two that help to create the most compelling threads.

So, now, without any further ado, let's get back to the thread...

And where are they today? The anvils folks don't need?
Not even in the trash, I wouldn't think,
Very heavy iron things, hard to hide, indeed,
I wonder, did someone paint them pink?
Last place I would think to look, is in our many landfills,
So help me find them... what happened to all the anvils?

QUOTE(WhatTha? @ Jul 31 2007, 01:34 PM) *
When my daughter was 15, she "played" with an Ouija Board at a slumber party, and she came home the next morning terrified, telling me they contacted a spirit, etc. She said when she awoke that morning at her friend's house, a large, heavy mirror that had been hanging on the wall above the bed was laying on top of her. She hadn't felt it fall on her. She said if she had, she would've been knocked out, because it was a very heavy mirror. My daughter said she opened her eyes that morning, and stared right into her own reflection! She said she couldn't move, because of the weight of the mirror on top of her. She had to slide out from under the mirror, to get out of bed. Of course, I brushed all of her ravings off as a teenager's imagination gone wild. But my daughter is now 35, and she still remembers the frightening experience of "playing around" with an Ouija Board. She kept her notes about their communications with the spirit for many years, but she tells me the notes have somehow disappeared.

Since my daughter had experiences with an Ouija Board, I have been sharing some of IronGhost's amazing Ouija Board experiences with her via e-mail. This morning, my daughter sent me the following e-mail:

yeah that ouija board stuff is pretty creepy. i don't know if i ever told you all the stuff that happened when i was a teenager and shelly and i were obsessed with that thing. we played every day. lots of really bazaar things happened. i've always wanted to write a book about it all. but it's been so long ago that i don't think that i can remember everything. i was going to call the book "Faith Evil". that is what it called shelly. it said that that was her name after death. it had a name for me too but i can't remember it. it got really creepy and things started to "happen" so we quit playing. i never got the feeling that we were speaking to other worldly beings. it was all people who had died or evil demons. i guess a demon is not a person. but why are they so mean. and why are they wasting their time on "humans" if we're so "stoopid?"

i know what IronGhost means about how the ouija board will work really well with some people and not at all with others. shelly and i did the same tests that he did. we would take turns covering our eyes. and we would ask it questions and write down the answers like he did. you've got to write down the letters that it indicates because sometimes you'll loose track of what they're spelling and then it wastes everyone's time. also some of them are terrible spellers so you have to see it on paper in order to figure out what they really mean. they also cut corners, the smarter ones, like after we'd realized that it referred to shelly as faith evil, it started to refer to her as FE. i believe that there are true people to communicate with and also there are liars and/or evil people and/or demons.

after all that junk happen to shelly, christy and I, i've never really been too interested in playing although i have played probably a dozen times since then. nothing really "happened" and it never really worked as well playing with other people......until...... robbie and i played about 2 years ago when i worked for terri montgomery. terri was out of town and andrea and robbie were house sitting. i went over there after band practice one night and robbie pulled out the ouija board. he and i had played before, about 7 or 8 years ago and i remembered that it worked really well with he and i. so we each put our hands gently on the planchette and it immediately began to circle the board. robbie asked a few silly questions and we got some yes and no answers. then he asked if we could speak to judd. remember judd my old roommate who got shot and killed about 9 or 10 years ago? Super white blonde hair, dope smoker, funny laugh, dirty roommate. his friend rich cook shot him in the head and said it was an accident. he got off clean, i guess the courts believed him but the story was always shady about how it happened. everyone has always looked at rich with an unbelieving eye since then. he was a shady dude and judd and he were business partners in the illegal drug world. they were buddies, business partners and they would also get into some major fights i believe over bad business deals. i remember rich coming over to our apartment all the time when i lived at 3916 McLean Dr. anyway back to rob and i on the parker bro's ouija board at terri's. so robbie asked to speak to judd and we got put on hold for a few seconds and it said that we could speak to judd. once it said it was judd, our friend judd, robbie started asking questions of proof.

robbie: what band did i used to be in that you loved?
judd: PTM

robbie was in a popular band in the mid 90's called Pamper The Madman... judd was wearing that band shirt when Rich shot him. we asked him a few more questions that he answered correctly but we still wanted more proof. we decided to ask him questions that we both didn't know the answer to.

when judd and i lived together in that apartment judd would make his drug deals over the phone, i used to get mad because he wasn't discrete over the phone and i was always worried that our phone would get tapped and he would get busted and i would be charged as an accomplice, so i asked.....

me: what did i tell you to refer to "pot" as over the phone?
judd: pizza

that was correct, i know that robbie didn't know that. then robbie asked him some question about "beca" beca was Judd's girlfriend for several years up until about a month before he died, they broke up. first of all i always thought her name was spelled becka but robbie told me that beca is how she spelled it. he asked some question about her and "judd" answered obviously correctly from the look on robbie's face. then robbie asked him if rich killed him on purpose. he was hesitant to answer but he said that yes rich did kill him on purpose but that he wasn't mad about it anymore. that it was a stupid thing that happened but he has forgiven him. he said it was over beca or about something that beca had said.

i wish we'd written it all down. it was really amazing. i remember i felt like we had really just had a conversation with judd. i believe we did. and so does robbie. we couldn't stop thinking about it. robbie was telling people about it. i don't do that because it sounds ridiculous. but even a week later robbie and i were convinced that we had actually spoken to judd. it was real.

i believe that playing the ouija board is sorta hit or miss with getting a legit person. and i still think that we spoke to judd. i don't know how to explain it but it had the feel of the three of us chatting in a room together. it was almost as if we could smell him, not that we could, but that's just an analogy of how real it was. i remember when we realized that we were in fact talking to judd and we said hello, it was as real as if you were at the grocery store and you ran into someone you knew. that initial surprising, "hey, how are you, what's be going on?" i don't know if that makes any sense, but it was very real. that's all i can say.

I thought I'd share that, for what it's worth.

For the record, Judd, and my daughter's friend Christian, were her roommates for awhile. My daughter didn't know Judd sold pot on the side until he'd lived there awhile. Christian was the one who suggested that Judd move in, and he didn't know Judd was selling pot, either. Anyway, my daughter complained to me about it constantly, because she wanted Judd to move out. However, she tried to tolerate Judd, to keep peace with her friend Christian. My daughter also said Judd was a dirty slob.

Anyway, my daughter finally moved out. Then a couple of years later my daughter told me Judd's roommate, some guy named Rich, had shot Judd in the head, killing him instantly. The way my daughter told it, Judd's roommate had been showing Judd a pistol. Then the roommate walked in the bedroom, leaving the bedroom door open, and he was standing in the bedroom, looking at the pistol, when it suddenly went off in his hand. In the living room, Judd fell to the floor, ker-plunk. The roommate supposedly laughed, thinking Judd was clowning around. But the bullet had hit Judd square in the head, killing him instantly.

Anyway, that's the details on Judd. I wasn't aware until I read the above e-mail from my daughter that she'd had another Ouija Board experience, when she and her friend Robbie contacted Judd.

Wow, I don't know how I missed the story of Aimee, but I just finished it and of course now I want more. I feel that whether your a skeptic or believer in the ouiji board, has no bearing on the entertainment that IronGhost has given us. Alot of us thought the characters were wonderful, Mommy in the Nothiing Chamber, Aimee in the Abode, but I guess we're all going to be left hanging mellow.gif

So Ouijiboy, (whereever you are) thanks for starting this thread, and IronGhost, thanks for making it so interesting... grin2.gif

Thanks, goalienan, you're so nice.

In fact, I have reams of information about The Abode -- a very interesting place, to be sure, with some extremely odd beings whom run the place, so to speak.

Again, I want to ensure everyone that all this is not merely fictional and creative writing -- this is straight information coming through the Board. Period.

It's true that I have "stole" ideas from MOMMY and other entities in writing some of my own short stories. For example, for a science fiction story I wrote called "The Icon" I borrowed information from MOMMY and used some of the things she told me to use in pure fiction. In "The Icon" for example, I use the theme that love and curiosity are the same force, as MOMMY suggests, and I also used the concept of the "Nothing Chamber" in the story, and also used items I learned about from The Abode -- including "probe rings" that can enter other dimensions and bring back information.

The reason I mention this is because a couple of hundred people downloaded "The Icon" story from my blog, which is fine because it is there free to anyone who wants to read it, or even pass it on to others -- but some people e-mailed me and were curious or maybe skeptical about why some of the aspects of that story were the same aspects mentioned by MOMMY -- and the reason is, of course, I "stole" these ideas from MOMMY, who is a big inspiration for me when I write pure fiction.

That's another great thing about the Ouija Board for me -- it's a great source of ideas and creativity -- and the beings on the other side don't have any copyright laws original.gif so I "borrow" from them with a very loose wrist.

Anyway, I won't leave you guys hanging -- I'll probably publish more Ouija session in my column on the Main Page, hopefully very soon.

I'm deeply honored and greatful to all the wonderful people here for all your kind feedback -- even those of you who have been skeptical or critical, or who mistrust Ouija Boards. I respect all of your opinions.

I've never doubted you for a minute, any more than I doubt what my daughter tells me is the truth. I'm looking forward to reading much, much more about your Ouija Board experiences! If you ever put them in a book, it would undoubtedly sell like hotcakes!

Don't worry guys --- I'll give you all a head's up.

JustNormal and She-Ra ... you are both so .... so ... MOMMY-LIKE! So brimming with wonderful feminine warmth, and just a fundamental sweetness.

You know, as a GUY, I never could have made up MOMMY in a millions years. She seems to embody the feminine archetype -- that universal loving "motherness" that makes the world a better place.

A lot of people ask me if MOMMY could have been my own mother, who died about a year before we first contacted MOMMY. But no, I really don't think so. Certainly, my real mom had all of those basic qualities that make all mom's so warm and special -- but MOMMY IN THE NOTHING CHAMBER is a different "flavor" altogether than was my own mother, bless her soul.
