This happened when I was around 5 or 6 years old, I remember it fully because it was one of those things you'd never forget and if you told people on the street, they'd think you were crazy. Anyway...I remember going on a walk with my parents and my dog, it was around 10 at night and we were walking to the lake. We got there and just had a look around when my dad thought to turn on his flashlight and turn it off and on facing the sky, he did that for a good minute. All of the sudden we see a beam of light come down over the water out of nowhere and a few lights were going around in a circle above the beam of light. It came over the water slowly and when you looked down into the water where the light was shinning over, it was clear, which is odd because the water in that lake (Lake Saint Clair, which is in Michigan) is never that clear, even in the day time. Also, we couldn't hear sounds anymore unless it was us talking (the cars were still going by as fast they could be, but we couldn't hear them anymore) and for some reason we thought to look at our watches, but they had all stopped. My dog was also barking and trying to get into the water, which is strange because that dog hated the water. Lastly, when we looked over to Canada the lights were all out, like someone shut them off all at once, but they were all just on a few minutes before. I remember us looking at each other and my dad saying "we got to get out of here, something weird is happening," but for some reason none of us could move, it was like we wanted to leave, but we just couldn't. The beam of light finally came over us and stopped and that was the last thing any of us could remember. Finally, it was like we woke up from a trance, my dad looked at his watch and it was working again, but the weird thing was that the time was 10 to 20 minutes ahead, all of our watches were 10 to 20 minutes ahead. We could hear the cars again and the lights over in Canada were as bright as ever. We (as anyone would) started freaking out and tried to get home as fast as we could. When we were walking home, we looked up into the sky and we could see the circle of lights following us, once we got home, we saw them shoot off into the west.
After that, I started drawing weird pictures, not the usual pictures a first grader would draw. Some were of aliens, some were of people killing each other. Also, I wouldn't sleep in my room anymore, I started sleeping under the dinning room table, because I remember feeling very strange in my room and it scared me, so I slept under the table with my dog because I felt comfortable there. And, for some reason I became really smart with electronics, I was only 6 and I could take apart a VCR and put it right back together again. Lastly, I remember myself hanging out with these kids watching the fireworks (this was right after it happened) and I remember telling them about what happened and saying something like "yeah, they're coming back again one day," the kids freaked out, and my mom had to take me back to the car with her because the parents of the kids thought I was creepy and strange for telling that story and then saying what I did. My mom forbid me then to never tell that story to anyone, because all it will do is freak people out, plus no one would believe it anyway, and to just keep it between the family.
Anyway, that was my story. I'm sure a lot of you won't believe it and that's okay, because if someone told me that kind of story and I never experienced it myself, I wouldn't believe them either.
But I thought it was time to tell people, because this has been bugging me for years and I saw this board and thought this would be the perfect place to tell what happened to me, thinking that maybe people will be open minded. Thank you for reading though and if you have any kind of questions, feel free to ask.

Hello, and welcome to UM.

That was an interesting story. I, too, experienced a fear quite similar to yours as a child. Ever since the age of 7 - 8, I had a fear of sleeping in my own room, and up until I was around 14 - 15 I had to honestly sleep with a parent because I could NOT stay in my own room by myself. I was deeply afraid of the "aliens" as a small child. At least, ever since I saw a flying disc-shaped object hovering above the V.G. Hospital when I asked "them" to see their craft. In addition, I had a fascination with technology/electronics at your age as well. I could easily figure out how to take an electronic device and put it back together again.
I still have a fear of sleeping in my own room, even at 16 moving on to 17. However, that doesn't stop me from sleeping in here. The way I look at it, I know they're there, and if they wished me harm, they would've harmed me a long time ago.
Interesting experience nonetheless. Just don't expect everybody to be awestruck at your story. There are a lot of debunkers on here.

It does sound very far fetched. It also sounds like something I've heard before, but I'm not anyone to call you a liar.
If this really did happen to you I think you should stand yo for what you believe in.

Well I am glad someone else has experienced something similar, makes me happy to know that I'm not the only one out there. It's very interesting that you had close to the same experiences after it happened like I did. Although, I can sleep in my room again, but it took years and a lot of moving around for that to happen. But, I don't feel comfortable a lot of times alone in my room, I always feel like there's something watching me. As you said though, if they wanted to do harm than they would've done it sometime ago.
I do understand not many others will, I suppose, believe the story, but I know it's true and I just had to let it out after so long. I highly believe that we, as humans, aren't the only ones out there, it's a big universe.

I do understand that you think it may sound far fetched, but it's something that did happen and I can't go back and change it.
I also do stand for what I believe in or I wouldn't have been able to tell this story about my past. I believe that there are other beings out there and I don't think anyone could change my mind about that.

Well, at night, I start feeling a little uncomfortable. During the day I'm fine, however, at night that's when I am the most uncomfortable. I am fine in any other area except my room, I just get really paranoid at night.

I believe your story and believe you are very lucky to have experienced something like this...
I myself have only experienced one paranormal phenomenon in my life.... when I was in fourth grade, I saw a very large black disk floating through the sky, completely silently. It wobbled as it flew, and flew away very slowly at a constant speed until I couldn't see it anymore. I was the only one who seemed to notice it, even though there was a lot of people outside at the time.

Perhaps you were the only one meant to view the craft.
