I change the sheets on my baby's crib about every 2 weeks. Well this time I lifted the mattress out of the crib to take the sheet off and when I did the two top and bottom screws on the back right side of the crib FELL OUT and the crib bed springs immediately fell downward at an angle. The screws are about an inch and a 1/2 long and were screwed in all the way when I put the crib together. None of the other 6 screws were even a little bit loose, and I had just changed the sheets about 2 weeks before that and I noticed nothing out of the ordinary. We dont have many people over and if we do they never go to the baby's room alone. I cant explain it other than something not of this world....About a week before this happened she would wake up every night screaming and she wanted me to stay in the room till she fell back asleep. I thought she was just entering a new phase of seperation anxiety but then this happened and I see why she was screaming.
Please help me figure this out!!!

With the baby screaming the way she has been, perhaps she was tossing, turning and hitting the side of the crib, loosening some of the screws. If your certain that the crib was put together correctly, and it still happens, try putting a video camera in the baby's room, facing the crib....Also, how old is the little one?

i dont think it was her tossing and turning that loosened them. shes only 8 months old and and 16 lbs.
the screws are about an inch and a half long and only the two on the right back side were loose. if they
had been worked loose by movement wouldnt some of the other screws been loose as well?

Hard telling. I'd be putting some glue in with those screws if I were you, all of them. Scary. Babies go through phases, so I wouldn't be too worried about a haunting. Have you had any other strange things happen in your home? I like goalienan's suggestion, if you're worried about ghosts, put up a video camera. Can get a cheapo security camera that hooks up to a computer to record, even the remote ones can be pretty affordable. Glue and a camera, all your bases covered.

Hi... I have already put screws into a piece of furniture, thought they were tight, but after checking they would be loose due to the washer being stripped....My granddaughter isi 8 months old, 18 pounds and when she wants to get out of my arms, her little strength is unbelievable...I agree with Episteme that it most likely isn't a haunting, but with little ones you always worry...Also, as Episteme asked, "is there anything else thats unusual going on in your home"...I just re-read your post, and yes at 8 months the separation period does start...Just trying to eliminate the paranormal....

When my son was 8 months old, he would flip out of his crib and I would find him hanging on the outside. Babies are strong. But why do you only change the sheets every two weeks. I remember changing the sheets at least every day and sometimes 2-3 times a day. Change the baby's sheets every day and check the screws.

I don't have kids, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about... but isn't that a bit excessive?

It might sound excessive, but babies pee alot and if it goes through their clothes, then there go the sheets...But every 2 weeks, just doesn't sound right to me...Just my opinion...

It depends on if their diaper leaked or they burped up in the crib.
No kids either but nieces! LOL~

Nope changing crib bedding should be daily (at least once a day). Two weeks is way too long to wait IMO.

I'm a woodworker. Show a pic of the crib and I'll tell you if anything's wrong with it that would permit screws to fall out.
Builders often do things with screws that they should not do.

whether or not there is a ghost, make sure to put protective energies around your child. it is nice to just have a few statues of guardian angels and maybe some plastic flowers. a bowl of salt water will do amazing things. remember, you are stronger than anything in that room. mostly cause you can easily put the screws back in XD and it takes about 20 seconds, but it takes them a week. lol. but anyway. just make sure your child is not subjected to negative entities so early in life.

let me get this straight
your baby bed fell apart
so you create an account on unexplained mysteries and ask why something from out of this world tore your baby bed apart?
i mean.. OBVIOUSLY it WAS something from out of this world that did it..
there is no possible way shape or form it could be ANYTHING ELSE of this world.
so my official answer is.. I don't know.

Well Zombie, the lady is freaking the heck out- cant you tell? Who wants a ghost in the crib with their baby? NO ONE!
Pi0, I would do as Boorite suggested, get a pic of the crib and let him see it, sounds like a rationale idea of figuring the problem out. imo.

Just sometimes...burp, pee, and many other things like leaky bottles...but at least once a day. In two weeks, can you imagine how much dust, etc. could collect, and once a day would give the opportunity to check the crib. Also, babies beginning to walk and stand, jump up and down, shake the crib like an earthquake until it moves on the floor. That's enough of childcare...it takes me back and I'm glad they're grown now.

yah i didnt think about glue thanks! i just keep a check on the screws now and they are all still tight so im at a loss for what happend with those two. i think i will try the camera and see what i get. wierd things have been happening with the ice in the ice trays also.... this was not an isolated "wierd" incident. thats why i was so concerned bout ghosts or something. and my baby always looks like shes looking at something not there when we're in her room, i just thought that it was her learning to focus on things far away but im not so sure bout that anymore.

piOxOie....Don't take it to heart about the sheets...I think it was all the motherly instincts in us ...

You said the baby takes a nap on your bed, I'm assuming this is during the day...Is she restless when she is sleeping there, or is she in a relaxed sleep...I'm just asking to find out her sleep patterns...If you still feel edgy, then try the camera, or possibly sit in her room in a rocking chair and see if anything strange is going on...It would probably mean losing a nights sleep, but it sounds as if your losing it anyway with her waking up and screaming...It's just a thought...trying to eliminate...

When my daughter was about that age she had a favorite corner of the crib where she would stand and bounce and shake as she would cry mum mum mum mum, she would do this to blow off energy, get my attention and whatever ,some times she would get frustrated and scream like she was on fire if i didn,t come running right away! It only took a couple of months and that one side of the crib was busted and the rest was still firmly entact,of course we had to get her another crib but you bet at that age she can knock things loose!

Not to focus on the changing of the sheets, but they should be changed at least twice a week, just to be sanitary. Babies sweat and pee and poo in their beds.
Anyway, here's a funny story for you.
When my oldest child was 8 or 9 months old, I would wake up in the morning to find him in the living room or in my room, chewing happily on his favorite toy. This was terrifying to me, because he'd been up with no supervision, for God knows how long.
I couldn't figure out how he was getting out of his crib.
I started setting my alarm clock earlier and earlier, trying to wake before he did, and finally I got up one morning and peeked around the corner of his room.
He pulled himself up at the end of his crib and started jumping. He jumped several times and then the bottom of the crib gave way and tilted down, sliding him out of the end onto the floor. Then the bottom of the crib tilted back up where it belonged as if nothing had ever happened.
I went to the hardware store and bought some huge nails and nailed the bottom of the crib in place.
Anyway, an 8 or 9 month old baby definitely has the strength to tear up a crib.
Wait till you see what they are capable of doing when they're 2.

Well the main reason she takes naps on my bed is for the last few months she wouldnt take a nap in her crib, even if she was soooo tired she would still cry and cry.
Now in my bed she takes two hour naps in the morning and in the afternoon... very peaceful relaxed naps.

aw, their so angelic when they sleep aren't they

I love to peek in on my grandchildren when they're napping, because I know in a short while they'll be up raising heck...

Lets go back to the camera...why don't you try it...It's not going to hurt, and hopefully it will show nothing which will give you peace of mind...Then you can at least you can rule that out. Let us know how your making out o.k...

Oh one more question...Before she goes to sleep for the night in her crib, does she have quiet time, or is she playing...My daughter found out that without the quiet time for her daughter, her nights were horrendous, thrashing and screaming...

she is sooooo sweet sleeping i agree!! i just want to crawl in her crib with her sometimes when i go in there to check on her

before she goes to sleep i feed her a bottle in the rocking chair and we rock and sing till she gets sleepy so by the time she lays down
in her crib she basically just falls asleep.
