Nostradamus:: belivie in him, but when was the LAST time you saw someone PREDICT stuff that he did??

Turn of the centuary there was a 9ft person (almost), but medication prevents overgrowth syndrome. Andre 7'4 and Giant Gonzalez 7'7 are some of the more famous tall people of late.

People are always predicting things. Weathermen predict hurricane seasons. NASA predicts when they will be on Mars etc...

Dead people are revived on a daily basis in hospitals and at scenes of accidents. Blind through whatever reason have regained sight. Splitting the sea? I would say the Yanktze dam is pretty impressive and actually STOPS the water

BRYAN had just split the SEAS in half so him and his buddies could walk across it... or hmmm.. "Patrick was blind, but Kyle had fixed his EYE sigh right infront of everyone"... yeah?? NO!! lol, it doesn't happen anymore.. why not?? it seems as if a legend.. NOAH!?! 2 of every animal on a boat.. when was the last time you saw a BOAT, with TWO!!! of every animal on it. lol... and real quick.. they predicted the year 2000 every COMPUTER would shut down due to complications of the calenders and the dates of them... NOTHING happend.. ok 2012 END OF WORLD!!!??? and know 2012 isn't even hear yet they have Newton's 2060 end of WORLD ect... please, its all debate and theories.. which is why the site is running..put this website on the NYSE.. the shares would drop faster then a fat lady budgie jumping of a bridge...

As for your argument Lucid - In your third point about the sea parting etc...It's not that I don't think those things happened. But I feel that the stories were passed through generations so many times that after each person exaggerated it that little bit more it became the stories they tell now.

As for psychics, there are plenty of them today, thats all Nostradamus was.

And Goliath? Again, I think it was just a very tall man (around 8ft) that got measured higher and higher through stories and whispers.

Well one explanation could be ...

"back in the day" maybe everyone just completely exaggerated. Most people weren't even 6 ft then and people today are bigger, stronger and healthier. So if you have this 7 foot guy 2000 years ago, compared to everyone else he may have seemed 11 ft tall. Possibility exists.

It's pointless to predict anything today... too many skeptics keep people from jumping on the bandwagon. And most of Nostradamus' predictions happened after his life so maybe some predictions today will happen after we're dead and rotted. Possibility.

Like Roj47 said, they revive people everyday in hospitals. Maybe someone had a busted head and he put a bandage on it. Or "oh I'm blind" , here was your eyes out with some water ... "I can see". Possibility.

In my opinion, I think that there was just a lot of exaggeration with all the bible stories and myths like that from the past. But I'll say one thing, Nostradamus was pretty good, but some of his stuff was general and could be applied to a lot of things - but he's definitely one of the best phrophets ever. This is just my opinion.

Hate to put the rain on the parade but the reason the miracles and prophets all happened in the past was because communication wasn't as freely as today, and solving things/proving it was very hard. Back then you can do stiff as a board light as a feather and your god. Its just that the population bought into things more often then now and the people who were now day magicians back then were prophets and holy men. If I took a lighter back to the middle ages or roman times and lit it(something very easy to make even back then) then i would be satanic and a demon since i can make fire come from my hand. Now days information spreads in seconds around the world and people communicate more, also better ways to prove something false. Like back then there was a battery found in bagdad u touched it and it shocked ya, so people must have thought it was holy and god's hand. People today are still dumb to a lot of things but things like simple technology and tricks doesn't fool the average person so now it is much harder to fool people causing the "holy men" to be gone.

Yeah, I think that makes a lot of sense.

Here's what I think why we don't see "Miracle!" or "Person splits water!" in the headlines:

Maybe we're so well off in the world, we have the technology to cure most diseases, the power to somewhat harness the water and weather through modification that we don't need God's help at the moment. Sure, wars still occur, disasters tear apart countries, but you have to admit we're a lot better off than we were two thousand years ago.

I think mankind knows what to do, we have tons of information and history to go through.. and I think it's just our choice whether or not we want to go through the open door; meaning to find a religion and such. Sure, we need God now and then as the world is still suffering in most parts.. but, it's also our job to find it within ourselves to make a difference. I think if there is a God, He knows this and expects us to do the right thing. When the time does come for civilization's end, we will all know it.

Lol I have asked that question before and the answer I think about is, we are gonna get the Apocalypse most likely that's why =p.

You know how Jesus supposively changed water into wine. I bet he took a bottle of water and switched it with a bottle of wine when no one was looking. So when someone looked over their reactions were "OH MY GOD, THATS AMAZING! HE IS OUR SAVIOUR".

Jesus said that ye shall do greater mircles, ppl dont want it.. some things only comes by pray and fasting, which is a great and serious devotion..ppl dont want to sacrfice their time..faith restores the blind, the healings.etc..which happens still today..Theres a person whom I know who had bellsparlsy(spelling?)that while the preaching of the word came forth this persons face went from one side dropped and dwelling to normal..it just went back in place ppl watched with amazement as it went back in place..mircles happen to the ones who are wanting to receive and belive they will....


As for the parting of waters...is it a necssity? there would have to be a great reason for such I would think but I dunno justa thought..

Predicitons would be scary....whos to say they arent happening, is it possiable some could be being OVERLOOKED? maybe ppl just dont want to hear them...I agree theres many offthewall ones out there inwhich they should be ignored..

You gotta do some studying that was from the bible when jesus was here, hes the son of god of course he can do those things, no one else could though. I dont think. Anyways god is suposed to come back when the rapture comes which could be right... NOW, or ..... NOW!. well we dunno when it will happen, probably not even in our life time, but thats when he could do stuff like that.

Been here and said this, but the short version.

This is based on personal experience. I know such things happen. I cant prove it, and I don't necessarily expect you to believe it ,but it is an honest response to your questions

Miracles, just like those of the bible and other chronicles do happen to people right now. They probably happen to some one on the earth at least every day.
Some of the reasons we dont hear about these so much are;
Communities are bigger. People don't tell what happened. people don't believe what happened. Societies are more diverse and only parts of them may respond positively. (For example there are stories from modern people of modern miracles just as powerful as the biblical ones but most people would not even enter the type of bookshop where they are sold)

Prophetic visions occur today. At least one quite significant modern protestant faith is built around verifiable prophetic visions from the 1850's to the early 1900's. Again, I have personal experience of prophetic visions which showed me possible futures and also allowed me to avoid specific instances where i would have been harmed. These are not all limited to religious experiences, and several have been independently verified. Ie i told people of specific events before they happened. This is not an innate gift of mine and i can rarely do it on demand. Generally it comes as part of a life saving event or to make a point to others. Again, if i can have these experiences here and now why should not many others both present and past.

The problem becomes what would you accept as a verifiable miracle. The nearest I can give, and i have gone through it before is when a massive bush fire swept through our area in 2005. The power had been cut off for hours. In fact all surrounding power and water had been cut in many places. My guardian angel spoke to me for the fourth or fifth time in my life and said "Turn on the radio."
Having learned to take notice of these commands, i did so. The power came on for perhaps 30 seconds and in that time a warning came that the fire front had changed direction and was racing at us, about 15 minutes away. This saved our life. We evacuated with minutes to spare. The house exploded in a firestorm which was reported on the radio from by an observer 35 Kilometres away and we escaped through dense smoke down a pre planned evacuation route.

Now combine the actual warning and the way it was delivered, with the fact that the power poles to our house were melting in the heat and the lines had burned through. No one got power back on for days afterwards. It was impossible, given the known laws of physics for that radio to come on. Yet both my wife and I heard it, and acted on it.
Why did the angel not continue to speak directly into my head? I do not know. But one consequence of this method of warning is that i have at least one witness to what happened, whereas if it had only been in my head, even I might have gradually come to discount the miracle as impossible, and some sort of sub conscious panic driven hallucination. Very sadly, nine other locals lost their lives. Most were either trapped in their homes, or else they were trying to escape the fire front. While i may not be able to convince you, no one will ever be able to tell me that real ,biblical type, miracles do not happen in this day and age.
