After looking at every single post on this site and being a member...I have finally figured out that.... I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO BELIEVE ANYMORE!

Unless you do your research on anything that this site involves...what proves whats right or wrong? Just cause someone says what is right (i.e. anyone that has any type of education or any background in the subject) what still proves that they are right? FOR EXAMPLE..Thomas Edison is supposed to have invented the lightbulb....ok...99.9% of people believe that that is the the truth...well some people will do some research and try to prove that is completely false..unless you do your research and try to debunk the information for yourself. But who is to say that the information you researched is correct, just cause the person who wrote it says that its correct even though they have an education in the subject?!?!?! I'm not trying to start an argument or anything but what proves that anything ANYONE says is true??? Even it ranges from subject to say...U.F.O's, cryptozoology, religion, daily news...hell ANYTHING!!!

Every time I look at any response to any post on this site I always think of the quote from the GREATEST MOVIE EVER...Braveheart....(again not trying to start and argument) original.gif...

"History is written by those...who have hanged heroes"

Like I said....I have no idea what to believe anymore sad.gif

what do you believe yourself? again even though I'm Catholic and I myself believe in Jesus, God, life after death, WHAT STILL PROVES that everything I've learned isn't true just cause a priest/bible/parent/scientist says its true??? I'm starting to think that I'm becoming an atheist...but thats not something I want to believe in..Again like any information... it is past down from one generation to the next but who is to say that, that information isn't plagued by false information given here and there??? I really need everyone's perspective on this subject...

I have to admit, even I am very confused on what to believe. Certain subjects have hard objective facts to back them up, others have only "popular opinion" or opinions from "credible" people. The latter can't really be known... you can just make an educated guess, but that's really it.

Where it gets confusing is that, if you are to believe or disbelieve in anything complex, you only have 2 options:
1. Take "credible" people's word for it.
2. Research the hell out of it(Some subjects can take AGES to learn) and then decide what to believe.

Now, there are tons of things to believe or disbelieve in, but researching EVERY subject would take ages. That's why alot of us end up accepting things said by "credible" scientists, priests, etc...

Not only that, but even if we DO research a subject, it still does not garuntee our information is accurate. For instance, you want to study biology so you read a book on it. How do you know what you're reading is true? Sure, maybe tons of people say it's true, but how would YOU know if you weren't a biologist?

this is what everyone MUST accept. while you are conscious and aware of this reality, there are things that you just do not know. period.

Believe in yourself! If you feel compassion, share compassion. If you feel love, share love. If you feel sympathy, cry with someone that's crying. Give them a hug, offer them a tissue, or a moment of your time. If you see someone that appears sad, simply smile as you look them in the eyes and mean to send them that joy, as you do so. Rather than just an empty curve of your lips that mean nothing, as so many do. Each one of us is an example of what faith in something else, is suppose to mean. God created this, Goddess created that. What ever the religions ask someone to take on faith, that what they claim to know, you will never find in it's true meaning, if you don't know who you are , before you cling to someone else's religious or dogmatic ideology, of what it's suppose to mean, to be you.

It is said religion is for those that are to afraid to face themselves in the mirror. Believe, have faith, in yourself first. Love all that you are. Because no matter what you hold in faith as true, from other mens philosophies that claim to know truth, it's you that has to take a part of yourself and believe other peoples notions about what it means to live your life. And how would you know to trust them, if you don't first trust your own sense of self?!

Faith can't be proven..
I believe it's not about religion at all. But, I believe it's a spiritual journey. A journey that is based on your personal truth, in your personal (life) walk. The strength in faith is similar to a friendship that progresses overtime. With each
experience that you share you become closer, more bonded.. the same way with faith/ or belief. Faith, grace, hope, belief, spiritual awareness, even those things you've learned from your experiences can't be proven, but you know they do exist, regardless. I think sometimes we can reach out and grab something to know it's real, but other things we have to search deep within us to know it's there, and its not always that easy.. One experience will build on the other, and eventually you have something that's powerful, massive no one can touch. One step at a time. You can never go wrong by following your heart!.. too cliche? but truth.

faith is an individual thing. no two persons are ever alike. don't follow anyone , lead yourself. They say happiness is an inside job , well so is faith and belief.

you already know 'the truth' spiritually. we all do. and each 'truth' is different. No one person or book knows the truth for anyone else. It's a lie to say they do. What might be true for you may not be true for me. that spiritual truth however has no right or wrong.

it's like a cup of coffee - some like cream and sugar , some just cream or just sugar , some like it black , some like it strong , some with flavoring , yet it's still coffee. (not to forget the tea lovers ! grin2.gif ) and some don't like coffee at all but use the cup for other beverages like cocoa.!

we are spiritual beings having a human experience.

now excuse me while I get my coffee hot , strong and black so I can wake up.

All I can really say on this subject is "The Truth IS out there.........But so are lies." You have to go with what seems the most true to YOU no one else can make that decision for you.

Good luck

Ask yourself how much the truth actually matters to you.

God or no god it doesn't really effect me at all.

If your asking what to believe in...believe in yourself.

After reading all of your responses, I think that my perspective have opened up alot...Its hard to believe anyone these days, but it just depends on my own outlook on who to believe and disbelieve but I wish it was a little easier to figure out on what to believe or not...I guess in this day in age... its hard to figure out who is really telling the truth and who is really fabricating lies with the truth just push others to believe in what they believe.

I can't speak on behalf of any other belief nor will I tell you what to believe. What I will tell you is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

In this Gospel: God created all things and created mankind in His image. This man (the father of mankind) forsook God to stand apart from Him. In doing so, mankind cut himself off from the source of life and thus death entered the world. Afterward, corruption and wickedness entered into the depths of humanity; and in depravity and confusion did we wander. War, sorrow, wickedness, and injustice thrived as the hearts of men were darkened with the darkness of selfishness; a common attribute that we have with Adam and Eve.

Throughout time, God called Abraham and his seed to testify of the one true God, so that all may come to the truth, be saved, and have everlasting life in peace and joy with God, and not apart from Him.

Israel failed many times to live up to God's standards that Adam once naturally fulfilled. And eventually forsook this standard for the standards of selfish and immoral men.

It became apparent that if mankind was to return to God, it had to be an act of God on our behalf, for mankind has proven incapable of doing so; even the best of us.

So God dwelled among men, incarnate in the flesh in the person of Jesus Christ. He did not come by the will or manipulation of God by men, but by the will of God Himself. He taught us truth, restored us to proper worship, took up our sufferings with us, passed the trials that we failed, and lived up to God's standards on our behalf. So when he died as men died, God had brought humanity through Jesus Christ to the pinnacle of perfection. And when Jesus was resurrected and ascended to heaven. His eternal life stood as a witness of our eternal union with God that was NOT PERFECTED BY OUR OWN DEEDS, WORDS, OR HEARTS, but was perfected by God's deeds, words, and heart on our behalf.

I hope that if you had any misconceptions about Christianity, they will now be cleared up and you see Christianity the way Christ intended it to be. Take Care

There is a third option

3. Flush it all down the crapper and trust only your experience.

But don't take my word for it, I'm not credible. wink2.gif

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO BELIEVE ANYMORE!

That's good, because that is the beginning of liberation.

Believe in YOURSELF, your wife and kids if ou have any.

This all about you.

It is about your existence, your life, your contact with invisible beings that religion refers to as spirit or angels but in actuality are electro magnetic forms.

Your existence as both an electro magnetic form and a physical body.

Just stop for a minute.

Put all of your religious beliefs aside and think.

What are you really ?
