I was playing some music today, I was about to put something else on, because it wasn't my style (It was choral music and I don't care for it.) until I look at my cat. She was laying in front of the stereo with both ears cock at the speaker with the look of rapture on her face. I could tell she was really enjoying so I left it on. I have had other cats who enjoyed music. Most of them don't care for rock music.
Has any of you experienced animals who seem to enjoy music?

When i was a kid i had a budgie bird who loved it when i sang to him , and my uncle who had a large chicken farm kept the music playing in the barn because he said they laid a lot more eggs than when it was off. I also had a dog who would put his paws over his ears when a certain song came on , i figured there must be some notes that really bug or hurt his ears in that song! With my cats there was only one who totally loved it when i put on any blues, the rest seemed indifferent to what i played! But i,m sure that just like people they have thier likes and dislikes to sounds and music! yes.gif

I had a Guinea Pig that loved classical music. She would make her happy squeaky noise whenever I put it on. But when I would play rap or hip-hop, she would make an unhappy growling noise.

My cousins left there TV on to keep thier dogs company. I have been guilty of that a few times.

And as an interesting side note, there was an experiment that taught koi to differentiate between different types of music. Experiment Write-up. It a pdf... sorry.

My cats love certain types of music, especially Pink Floyd from the 70s and some marches my great great great great uncle wrote.
