July 7
A Kenyan man tried to flee the United Arab Emirates by packing himself in a small wooden crate to be airfreighted out of the country -- but was foiled when the flight was delayed for hours.

The unnamed man, had stocked up on food, water and an oxygen bottle for his planned escape to western Kenya.

But he found himself stuck on the tarmac for hours when the flight was delayed.

Unable to stand his confinement any longer, he started banging on the wooden panels of his crate and screaming to be rescued.

Customs officials were alerted and he was promptly arrested and held in police custody.

Police said the man's passport had been confiscated because he had committed offences in the UAE and had previously been arrested for trying to leave without a passport.

I think if I had a choice in being in a country I didn't want to be in and being some what uncomfortable I think I would choose I slight discomfort especially if the police are involved. Now he gets to sit in jail. I bet he is going to be kicking himself for not siting there in the crate for a little while longer.
