So you guys have heard about the Quran how many of you guys have gone through it or read it

peace
EmpressStarXVII
I thought it would be a good idea to try and memorize it as I go along, but turned out that was a bad idea lol. It took me about a month or so to memorize it to Al-Baqara, and even then I had to look back at certain ayahs to make sure I got it right. So I'm starting completely over again, read it from start to finish; then concentrate on memorization.

i would love to read it and then compare it to the bible,to see if there are any correlations.

I feel if you study the bible then you might as well study the Quran too.

It's like mom and dad who got a divorce a long time ago but are still deeply entwined.
Each one thinks they are right and can't see eye to eye.

And they each have their "favorite sons"-Muhammad & Jesus.

There are a lot of similarities.

I actually found it easier to read the Qur'an. The english was much simpler; then again it is an english translation and translations are not authentic to the original and only language of the Qur'an, arabic.

I read through it but to be honest i couldent understand it.

No and I am really not planning to. Have you read any books on Druidry? If you want I can suggest a few
Bella-Angelique
I own Catholic and Protestant bibles, the Quran in English, the Pearl of Great Price, various pagan texts of Europe and Asia, and on. I have so many books and never made an inventory so that I do not know all that I have anymore.

I suppose I should do a yard sale and unbox some of them, but I doubt many people would be interested.

I'll take the Pagan books off your hands.

I have read enough to know that it is not even close to other religions which are also very different from one another....I'm glad to be an atheist.

The big lie is that all religions are alike and appeal to moderate tastes. This is not true with the muslim faith as the entire religion was based around a warrior named Mohammed (spelling?). He was a warrior who defeated his enemies in the name of god and likewise with most other figures as well. Not that I'm ragging out on muslims or anything the bible is full of war, sex and murder as well, Moses murdered a man then buried him and hid the body and God was a complete psychopath who committed global genocide.

For me though it is no wonder why so many muslims are in fact willing to give their lives for the false ideologies of men like Osama Bin Laden etc. With a religion such as this it is only expected that many would embrace a warrior like culture as opposed to a peaceful civilized one.

Again I have nothing against the people that choose to believe in God (Allah) I do however have problems with the religion. I also have many similar problems with other religions as well but this is not the topic for those. I am purely giving my opinions based on my personal observations.

I've read it as an attempt to "understand the 'enemy.'" I didn't see anything very persuasive in it. I saw quite a few contradictions....I'll stick with Jesus.
Essan
I have only looked quickly through a part of the Qu'ran - just enough to know that it's harder reading than the Bible but, like the Bible, seems to have sufficient contradictory passages such that you'll find something to support whatever it is you want.

To be honest though, I consider the ideas and beliefs of Mohammed (or whoever really wrote it) no more significant to those of whoever wrote Deuteronomy or for that matter Fred Brown from 22 Acacia Ave .....

We're all entitled to hold such beliefs and to be allowed to express them without fear of persecution. No one is entitled to impose such beliefs on others.

Lol, understand the enemy? Sorry CoI, but since when have Muslims attacked Christians? (Let's not forget about the Crusades, which started the whole enemy thing in the first place.) And contradictions? Read your own bible before you make that statement.

See those little inverted commas in his post? Those mean he didn't use word literally.

*sighs* Yes the enemy. I have done much learning to understand the enemies. From fake "Christian" churches all the way to Devil-Worshiping Yeizedis. The Bible says in Ephesians "For we fight not against flesh and blood, but against the powers, principalities, and rulers of this world." In order to understand the demonic influences and demonic strongholds that are set up around the world, one must study what comes out of these demonic strongholds. When I say enemy, you look at it on a people to people, man to man, human to human level. When I say enemy, I look at it as the enemies of the Kingdom of God (demons, dark spirits, etc.), Spirit vs Spirit, Kingdom of God vs Kingdom of Satan. Look beyond the physical and be amazed at what you see. And as to the contradictions, if you could find one that is fesible enough to completely negate the Bible's message then let me know.

How about the complete contradiction of the OT and the NT?

How is it a contradiction? Imo, it's moreso a fulfillment.

Contradiction? Cloud if you were to read and actually comprehend both books you would realize as CoI has said it is fulfillment.

Oh please, I have read the NT and almost all of the OT, sadly people do not realize that the bible was translated as a bias towards Jesus, so that it would seem to be fulfillments. Just curious now, have you read the OT, and if you have what bible do you use?

I've read the Quran three times, and it's beyond any doubt one of the three best books I've ever read. It's a really wonderful, but very misunderstood book in my opinion

Hi libra II

It is not misunderstood, i assure you that it is not read actually or only recited not knowing the meaning, i can show you many people who even not read Kuran once more in their lifes in muslim countries, they hire their minds to religious/cult leaders and mostly follow tradition.
Congrats, you had read 3 times thumbsup.gif

People in that region have always gone to war with various groups including other muslims. This whole Shiite vs. Sunni thing in the Middle East for example. You also have groups like Al-Queda, Hamas, Hezzbollah etc. To that there isn't something in that book that allows this behavior is ridiculus.

The big lie here is that all religions are basically the same when they aren't. Not all people who like the muslim faith are violent etc. I'm not saying that at all but it has to be said that the quran promotes more of a warrior like culture then not. If it didn't groups like the ones I have mentioned would not exist, and people would not be going to war based on minor differences in each others quran.

Hi, Armegon and Empress! Nice to hear from you both.

I'm not completely sure of what you mean, Armegon, but when I say I believe it's misunderstood, then I mean I believe it is as misunderstood as the Old and New Testaments.
Ganjaguru believes "that the quran promotes more of a warrior like culture then not" which of course is completely wrong. I believe the Quran promotes Love, Peace, Forgiveness and Mercy way above anything else.

This is not true according to history. Remind you Ottoman Empire, Ottomans ruled the region in peace for 400 years. Also in peace through the period of 4 kaliph. Here problems occured after WW1 and WW2 mostly political reasons.

QUOTE

These sects have been existing for about 1200 years but not much problem if instigations were not done. Also the sects in christianity were fighting each other while they were ruling their countries on the basis of religion.

You are talking about very little minority, these are political groups using the name Islam. There were no such groups before. And also political war is strictly forbidden in Islam. So one cant say these groups reflect true muslim. But you are right on something as i mentioned in my previous post the so-called Islamic countries are also corrupted. You know sheira-law is not based on Kuran, it is based 90 percent on hadiths and traditions and it differs from country to country for example sheria in Egypt, sheria in Suud and sheria in Iran are totally different. This is not the problem of Kuran but people because they are far away from Kuran actually Kuran promotes “secularism” mentioning “There is no compulsion in religion”, Turkey is a secular democractic state for example with 99% population is sunni muslim. Let me tell you an interesting thing, do you know that U.S supporting exteremists in Turkey to become government? I think U.S likes extremists original.gif.

Yes i agree, especially the 3 monotheist religion are different on the basis.

Kuran does not promote but people yes same is valid for christians and jews in the same region. Think about the europe in medieval age, bounded to bible, ruling the country through bible. How was that?it was also violent. So the sheria-law based on false beliefs is the bible of Islam today.

QUOTE

These groups arised because of politicians nothing to do with Kuran, they only using religion to take advantage, to brainwash illiterate people.

UziStuNNa1
The Quran is actually a book of peace. The word Islam actually means submission, or complete surrender to Allah. Various radical groups have twisted the words of the Quran and have brainwashed many people into following them. A small percentage of people do not account for the billions of Muslims around the world.
