The Girl
The world she shows, a smiling face
They marvel at her strength, her grace
They ask her how she copes so well
Admire this smiling, happy girl
They watch her, and yet, they don’t see
The burden carried underneath
Her heart that’s broken everyday
Watching her mum as she fades
The graying tinges of her skin
As cancer kills her from within
She cannot break and cannot cry
She lives each day, her smile a lie
For underneath her calm façade
She boils with anger, fear, and rage
She longs for comfort she can’t take
For someone's arms so she can break
Somewhere she can run and hide
From pain too much for one to ride
So when you see her smiling face
Don’t envy her, her charm or grace
For you can go on with your life
But I must stay, and watch her die

Penetrating. It's the razors edge that makes your artistry so poignant. Your words, your life. I sympathise with your blessed state and pray for your endurance. Chin up, you are a true angel.

Such a gifted poet you are.
And although writing can ease some pain, others it cannot.
I'm sending you some warmth and good vibes.
Smile, Themis.

Thank you...
It's her 60th birthday on Sunday so I will be decorating the house for when she returns and hopefully lots of people hiding too... I am gonna write her a (happy) poem for the occasion!
