Schizophrenia Test

Ah, that is harsh, I just got a score of 67 :( well I suppose I don't have voices telling me things for nothing, and I suppose it is a good thing (in the end) that I have a psychiatrist, is anyone else here schizophrenic?.....I am not diagnosed, but my p-doc thinks I might be SZ :(....... If so, how do you cope with the voices?

I scored 26, because I think I have a put a map to heaven in the DNA of insects and plants, and I can speak to animals. I have bipolar with grandious delusions, pretty much like schiz., as I have psychosis. I think it is a gift, and my life is probibly way more entertaining than most. I get lonely because of my highly evolved consciousness, and work hard at trying to figure out how to get everybody to this plane of existence. You dont have to die to get to heaven. <!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->A 26????? <!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->

Lol I knew this would be fun.

I got 13... Because I have "magical powers" (well calling it magic is a bit far but lets just say I have a powerful subtle effect on myself and others - I also experience synaesthesia and that's part of the effect which rubs off onto other people making them more empathic.... trouble is most get worried when around me cos they don want to think of something that will make me feel off by proxy of empathy) and everyone who knows me doesn't disagree... "possible early stages of schitzo like disorder"... according to link

I will say however that on days I feel up the sun is always out and days I feel down it stays gloomy... there is allot of metaphysical notions that sugest that earth responds to the EM field of human beings...

I was even having a really in depth spiritual disscussion with a council man one day who came to fix the biocycle of our septic...

He made a coment that every-time I said I needed to stop talking and ground/center my myself (in other words unwind the left brain activity -- he was there for 2 hours and we were talking on and off as he worked) -- that the sun would begin to come out.

I have also been treated unfairly by peers in primary school because I could draw really well, so some decided they would shine laser lights at my retina when I wasn't looking directly their way ... I now use glasses for long distance objects and definition on a computer or paper when further than 2 foot.

Now I don't think Im special I think your all special but most don't believe in the potential of what they can do...

I got a 2.

Mostly though, I'm just amused to see Ron Jeremy posted in a thread about schizophrenia. :P

Right? And he actually diagnosed someone else with it. :unsure2:

1, good because I have a family history of the disease. My sister has a very severe form and treatment has done very little for her. She's stuck in a neverending horrific nightmare. Schizophrenia is an illness I would not wish on my worst enemy and I'd rather have a boat load of illnesses(including terminal cancer) than have to suffer like my sibling has suffered.

The first time I took it I got a 2. The second time I took it I got a 54. Hmmmm?

I'm going to say that schizophrenia is a legitamate mental disorder because my mother has it and not subtley either. She is in a mental care facility because of her inability to function normally. She's never said anything about hearing or speaking to spirits or anything but she will talk to other "people" in her head or switch voices and go between english and spanish.

I think that if for some reason you have a predisposition to schizophrenia, such as having a family member with it, worrying about it and reading too much on it could make the situation worse and perhaps schizophrenic like symptoms could emerge. This situation is similar to drug addicts who mess up their brain chemistry and start displaying schizophrenic like symptoms. I think that schizophrenia is a problem of nature and nurture. For example, my mother had an awful childhood back in Mexico and mental illness happened to run in her family. When i say awful childhood I'm talking about physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. Now me on the other hand I'm 26 now and I am fine. I definitely have a higher probability than average to have schizophrenia because of my mother however, I believe that I do not have it because although my childhood was not the best, my environment was safe enough not to cause any permenant psychological distress that could cause these symptoms to surface. I'm obviously not a licensed psychologist, yet :) , but I did have to live with someone for 20 years who had schizophrenia pretty bad.

Ok, I think I'm rambling on now.

EDIT: I scored a 0. Magical powers would have been cool though.

I don't think this is necessarily always the case. My sibling and I were raised in the same enviroment yet she ended up with schizophrenia and I didn't. There was no emotional, physical or sexual abuse. Heck, our parents wouldn't even spank us. My whole family was/is very loving and supportive. It's kind of upsetting when people assume that my sibling's illness is the result of our upbringing. She began hearing voices seemingly out of the blue when she was 14. Then she just got progressively got worse and worse to the point where I no longer recoginzed her. She can barely function even when on medication and I'm certain she will never be able to support herself. Before she was on medication, she was out of control and a danger to herself. At times, it was downright terrifying to be around her and I developed severe anxiety because of the whole experience.

You're right. It's not always the case it's just that it's the most common one I've seen anyways  . I can definitely see why you developed anxiety from it.

Man, I'd say that anyone who thinks that what they think and/or feel isn't controlled by someone else is delusional (question 1). Unless you're not human. If the "mean girls" call the lonely quiet girl fat in high school, does she not feel horrible about herself and think she is a bad person?

Guess that's a sign of schizophrenia. Stupid 12 question test. :-*

If you answered anything but "Not at all" to "I talk to another person or other people inside my head that nobody else can hear", I think all the previous questions are insignificant.

I worked with schizophrenics in college for a few months. It greatly affected me to see how fragile our brains are. I was surprised at how varied the disease is. We always think of them as people who are constantly and totally crazy but those are chronic schizophrenics. They need to be on medication all the time. A small percentage of them refuse to accept they are mentally ill and believe they have superhuman abilities or are victims of harassment by electronic devices out of science fiction. These are the saddest people I have ever met. They don't want to get better.

There are also schizophrenics who most of the time have absolutely no symptoms but will have unpredictable schizophrenic episodes, sometimes years apart. You may know one and never know it. There is controversy over whether these people should also be on medication all the time. The side effects of most medications are often debilitating so many don't take them. Some are very aware of their disease and are able to sense when an episode is beginning (common symptoms are lethargy, clouded thinking, nightmares, stress, difficulty following conversations) and will medicate themselves until the episode passes. Others aren't so lucky and wake up naked, strapped to a gurney in the emergency room with no clue how they got there.
