chico del nacho Posted May 16, 2004 #76 Share Posted May 16, 2004 Shadowknight, i hardly think 'the Bible wants you to kiss Jesus' azz from life to death" accurately sums up your "biblical terms" section of the meaning of life. i hope you enjoy aging, it appears as if it will only tear your ego to shreds. ahh, to have another lifetime just to follow those events... but alas, there is just too little time for me on this Earth. i envy your parents. lol that was perfect. i don't think life needs a meaning. we just are. justification is not necessary. if a person feels hopeless about not knowing the meaning, they should give themselves one, if only a temporary one. to get them back on their feet, ya know? in regards to individual fate, different people have different purposes, much like cogs in a machine, but that would mean that each person has their own individual purpose. this is hardly an answer most people would accept, despite reinforcing the "you're an individual and you matter" idea, which is patenetly false. there are still some purposeless, and therefore, worthless people, in that idea. the fate of the species of man, if i had to guess, would be to multiply and destroy, much like rabbits with AK-47s. i want to go on, but if i do, i'll eventually just start ranting and saying the same few things over and over again, i bet. sp23 Posted May 19, 2004 #77 Share Posted May 19, 2004 Many have pondered the meaning of life. In my oppinioun their is no meaning of life, we are born to die, if their is anything after, we'll just have to wait and see
ouijaouija Posted May 20, 2004 #78 Share Posted May 20, 2004 Ah, the greatest qiestion of all? Maybe there is not meaning of life. It is huan nature to try and find patterns and explanations of irrational or inexplicable data, but like many things in life, maybe there is no purpose. Falco Rex Posted May 20, 2004 #79 Share Posted May 20, 2004 I know it sounds smarmy, but when my Son was born I found all the meaning I'd ever need out of life.. So if our only true purpose is to propagate our own species, that's still good enough for me..
AztecInca Posted May 22, 2004 #80 Share Posted May 22, 2004 To live every waking moment of our existence on this tiny planet where we have a time limit that we will never break free of....or will we????? Just live and be happy.
Chauncy Posted May 22, 2004 #81 Share Posted May 22, 2004 Whats the meaning of life? Well that differs from individual to individual. If you want meaning because you feel you have none, do something good for someone that isn't expecting it. This will relieve some of that non-purpose feeling......I promise!! Colbyjack70 Posted May 24, 2004 #82 Share Posted May 24, 2004 (edited) I have many ides on this matter but the most profound must be this. The meaning of life is to create a world in which we can coexist, im not saying a perfect haven of society. I mean a world where self propagation, and advancement of technolgy at prices we cant even forsee are not the dominant forces driving us. I say are we better than animals for creating this society, or are they better than us for not? The day we learn not to kill our selfs for petty greed or jealousy and learn to live in harmony with the other creatures of this world will be the day we are truly happy. Honestly, we hate or despise others for what they have in material things, while nearly every other creature fights for there life, not because the rival tiger has a better car. We are not a stupid race we have just become ignorant. The meaning of life is to not destroy ourselves or our home. Tho this is simply my opinion and open to change. Catrat Posted May 25, 2004 #84 Share Posted May 25, 2004 I used to be one of those boring people who was like 'The meaning of life is to reproduce then die' which could very well be true. But I guess i'm starting to look at it in a more scientific way (it's Physics that did it to me I swear ). There is so a scientific equation for it, and if there's not, a lot of decent mathematicians have wasted a hell of a lot of time
Redcloud Posted May 27, 2004 #85 Share Posted May 27, 2004 The meaning of life is equal to balance in all of ones affairs. In any human experience there are extremes, but to be balance, one must find the middleground aka narrow road. Redcloud

jeceris Posted June 3, 2004 #87 Share Posted June 3, 2004 i don't know specifically the meaning of life. i do know that each of us who has the chance needs to try and succeed. and the success i speak of is summed up in a quote attributed to ralph waldo emerson. "to leave the world a better place, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or an improved social condition, that is to have succeeded. that only one life breathed easier because you lived, that is success." do the best you can with what you got. that's it that's all. jeceris Posted June 3, 2004 #89 Share Posted June 3, 2004 gryphon if my hair was on fire, i'd set off the sprinklers at work every day, my bed would burn every night, i could never wear a hat. on the plus side, i wouldn't have to ask for a light for a cigarette, and when i go camping, could start the fire in the morning, if i hadn't set the tent on fire during the night. no, no i don't want to live like my hair's on fire. Falco Rex Posted June 3, 2004 #90 Share Posted June 3, 2004 Yeah, that doesn't sound like much fun. How about we live life like our pinky toe is on fire? That seems easier to deal with..

MrScuzzles Posted June 3, 2004 #92 Share Posted June 3, 2004 I'm a straightforward person. No matter how you view life, it's pointless in one way or another. The meaning of life is an easy problem. It's the origin of existance that's a vexing problem.
moe eubleck Posted June 5, 2004 #93 Share Posted June 5, 2004 Moe is also straightforward. althougg he often zigzags in social settings. on a biological level, is not the point of life to pro-create? Many would argue with this. However , they are the same few who spend hours staring at internet porn. If more people gave into biology , it would be a merrier world. Biology is fun! So lets all just set our differences aside and practice some biology. But do it safely!

flyinghigh23 Posted June 10, 2004 #100 Share Posted June 10, 2004 For me, I don't think we all necessarily have the same purpose for life, I think it goes much deeper than that. But right away I think free will, living and expressing the best part of ourselves to one another, learning how to live at a higher conscious level than we are now as a planet and somehow make our planetary conditions and personal relationships the best that they can possibly be. We aren't there yet. Life is a process of evolution, whether that be physical change, or evolution of the mind and the way we act as a species. If you look at the way we all treat one another on a daily basis (while not always negatively) or the wars we start, you could say we are pretty primitive. We are still learning what behavior works and what doesn't. So I think we are in a state of evolution in more ways than one. And I think one of the main reasons for our existence is for us to finally understand, that in order for us to improve ourselves and the state or our world, we have to acknowledge that we are essentially all one, and start behaving with that attitude. I could be way off, but that's what I think
