Good read. But you have to remember, Steven Hawkins is only human, and like us all, he makes mistakes!
I don't see that anyone has proven anything one way or the other. Theorys are great, but until they're proven, they're just ideas.
At one time, the theory was that the :
Sun revolved around the earth.
The earth was flat.
Nothing would go faster than 35 mph because then the air would be sucked from your lungs.
There were canals on Mars.
The longer we exist as a race, the more we find out that we don't really have a clue sometimes.
Just my opinion.

So? Who cares if he was wrong in determining something incredible hard to determine/predict and not to mention how he cannot really get a close inspection of the black hole... The fact that they made a bet tells us that it was something recreational for them, not a serious scientific report or discovery... Just because his a genious, I dont think we can stone him for being wrong about it.
