News-Bot Posted November 16, 2002 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2002 Posted By Saruman on Saturday, November 16 2002 Subject: Temple Found Under Hill Of Tara A huge temple, once surrounded by about 300 huge posts made from an entire oak forest, has been discovered directly beneath the Hill of Tara in Co Meath. Conor Newman, an archaeology lecturer at NUI Galway, said the discovery at the ancient site made sense of the positioning of other graves and monuments in the area. Mr Newman, who has been working on the Hill of Tara under the State-funded Discovery Programme since 1992, was delighted by the find. "It fills a very important place in the jigsaw because it allows us to make sense of the distribution of other monuments all around it." Click Here To Read The Complete Article...... Kismit Posted November 17, 2002 #2 Share Posted November 17, 2002 I found this interesting . Hopefully more discoveries like this will help to explain why so many old landmarks like this line up with each other.
Loonboy Posted November 17, 2002 #3 Share Posted November 17, 2002 That's an amazing discovery. How on earth did they manage to manipulate tree trunks measuring 2 metres wide into positions in the ground over 2.5 thousand years ago? It would be really cool to see what it looked like at the time of its completion.
Kismit Posted November 20, 2002 #4 Share Posted November 20, 2002 lol loonboy the Lotus postion and atomatic fire arms ,now thats what I call funny :s2 I read an article in National geographic recently about a wooden henge found on a beach in England . Where the celts /pagans had used a dozen or so oak tree stumps to incercle an inverted oak trunk . It was believed this particular henge was used for burial purposes . With the bodies left on the inverted stump to be washed away by the tide. The celts believed the doorway to the other world could be found any where the earth met the water. cool gif loonboy
