This topic has always puzzeled me. I am former military (intelligence/special forces) and a former state police investigator. In those previous capacities I have seen many strange things. I presently travel through the remote wilderness of the North Cascade mountains in Washington state exploring and photographing old abandoned mines. During my travels recently I have spoken to several local residents of small towns in the areas. They have told me of their personal and thier families/friends encounters with something very different while in these areas. I am basically a skeptic but I am by nature "objective" in my beliefs. So at the request of several of these people I began to travel to these areas to check out this "creature". While in one of these areas I did have several unusual experiences. One time on my way back to my vehicle (two miles away) I was followed by something very large for about a mile. I stopped and it stopped, I walked and it walked. It sounded like a large man through the forrest to the rear and uphill from me. I could not see anything. During another trip to the same area I was walking not far from a stream and as I passed a certain location someone or something started throwing rocks into the stream from across the stream from me. The rocks came from a forrested area. Again I stopped to investigate but could not see anything. I am returning to that area soon again as when someone follows me and throws rocks towards me I want to know who or what is doing that. I will find out!! I am still basically a skeptic until I discover what these people have seen. I have seen the tracks and therefore know something or someone is making "tracks". Also all of these people I have spoken to have seen something? What I don't know but plan to find out to settle all of the "hype" about this topic. If I find anything I will update everyone.

There is a TON of bigfoot threads here on the site, I'm sure you'll enjoy poking through some.

The only thing that is compelling to me on the whole Bigfoot saga, is that seemingly credible people, with nothing to gain, report seeing something year after year.

Even discounting a huge percentage of those people as hoaxers or just misidentification, there is still a viable number of claims that make me curious.

When you were walking and you heard something walking behind you, and the noise stopped when you stopped, could that have been simply an echo coming from up the hillside that was behind you? Or were the sounds nothing like the noise you were making while walking?

To answer your questions, first I heard something large walking behind and uphill from me. I stopped the first time because I heard whatever it was step on a large branch or something which made a loud "crack" then heard two more steps then stopped. I was stopped at that time. I looked into the forrest but could not see anything. Everything was very "still" and quiet, no other animal sounds. I started walking again after about 100 feet I thought I heard something in the same direction coming through the forrest as if it was hitting branches or stepping on them. I continued at a normal pace, glancing back to see if I could see anything. When I crossed a large open area about a mile from my vehicle whatever it was did not follow. On the other experience at first I heard something hitting the stream I was walking nearby and on a closer look (going closer to the stream) I could see two rocks being thrown into the stream from across the stream. I continued to look across the stream to try and see who was throwing them but could not see very far into the forrest. I had thought about crossing the stream and trying to find out who was throwing the rocks but it was getting dark and I needed to return to my vehicle which was now about 1/2 mile away. I returned to my vehicle, took a 30 minute break (water/snack) and drove home. I am returning to that same area soon to find out what followed me and who threw the rocks. Right now I will go with maybe a bear followed me as they sometimes do that to people and maybe the rock thrower was just another hiker having some fun. Although my vehicle was the only vehicle in the area that day??

I am willing to bet nothing happens , and if you do this , you will get some cool pictures of deer and such....You can also get security boxes for them , I am sure you know all of this being a investigator and such....Now is your chance to be a hero

There are sooooo many people that come on here , and claim stories , etc...Yours is not so much a " look I go a Bigfoot " , I am hoping you are sincere , and really , you do not have to prove anything to me.I will have my doubts though until we see some kind of pictures.( of anything ).

I think , being a Man of the Military ( Thank You by the way for serving ) you understand my concerns.

If you would not mind , and since you have the camera handy anyway , and it will help establish honesty for a lot of people ( epsecially me )....Can you lay these items on the floor , bed , whatever , and take a picture of all of them together?

It's been my experience that feral dogs and coyotes, sometimes wolves, will track people nearby in the woods. It's also my knowledge that they aren't out at night and don't throw rocks.

I live in Nova Scotia, in the Annapolis Valley. When I was a teenager (16-17 years ago as it were) I was walking at night and was being followed by something through the forest beside me. I thought it was a deer at first, but they are nearly soundless. Then I thought it was someone hiding in the woods planting their weed crops (happens here alot). I had a few branches and rocks thrown out towards me onto the road, 3-4 maybe, over a 2 kilometer stretch.

I really didn't think much of it because at that point in my life I really didn't think about bigfoot unless it came with big boobs and had a big horny streak

After high school and a couple of years of college I was biding my time working at a wildlife park and I remembered this event. I asked the wildlife specialists and they told me about animal behavior. It was then that I chalked it up to something other than a dog.

Pretty creepy IMO, especially with the story of wild men living on the mountain and how an old man was attacked in his cabin and his head removed from his body about 60-80 years ago..

There could be up to half a dozen people “ gone bush” in the royal National Park, south of Sydney, at any one time, a ranger at the park said yesterday.

Instances of hermits living in national parks have been highlighted after publicity surrounding the so-called “Wild Man of Woronora Dam”.

Eight young people claimed to have seen an ape-like creature near the dam last weekend.

Police, Water Board officials and local people;e have all dismissed the idea of there being a yowie or such creature in the area and have attributed the sighting to a hermit who is known to frequent the park.

The man, originally from Yugoslavia, has been sighted by Water Board officials several times.

A Royal National Park ranger, Mr. Peter Shadie, said yesterday: “It’s hard to stereotype them. They are social outcasts, a bit like the people on Gilligan’s Island at taylor Square. Because the park is so close to Sydney it acts as a refuge for all sorts of people.”

He said he could see parallels between the hermits he found in the park and the vagrants in Sydney.

“There are probably lots of similarities between being lost in the suburbs and being lost in the bush,” he said.

Mr. Shadie said many of the hermits created “a hell of a mess” and were moved on as soon as they were discovered.

Ms Cherrie Evans, another ranger, said the park had a long history of vagrants.

“The way you pick them out is you see the same person week after week walking up a track. They tend to be just lost souls,” she said.

Ms Evans said that camping out in the park could be dangerous.

“Because tha park is so close to Sydney and has good access it attracts an unsavoury clientele at times. Over the years there have been murders, rapes, suicides, car dumping and stripping, and people growing marijuana,” she said.

Mr Harold Senior, who worked at the royal National Park for 43 years, retiring in 1985, said there had been a number of hermits living in there over the years, some of whom he remembered fondly.

There had been one young man, whose parents thought he was dead, who lived in the park for several years. When he was finally discovered he was charged with minor offences, such as stealing food and magazines from weekend camps. When his camp was cleaned up park staff found half a sugarbag full of clocks.

We have them... but they are referred to as homeless usually... not sure but probably very few people live completely off the land here...

Why shouldn't there be? Our cultures are not too dissimilar - both have pioneer/frontier histories. Some people, by their own will or whatever, chose to live away from other people. Fresh water would generally be more available than here. An unkempt appearance would resemble a hairy biped. It is unknown if Bigfoots throw stones to ward people away but people certainly do. Perhaps it is something worth looking into...

Many people I have spoken to I feel have told me the truth of what they have seen. I do not know what they have seen (prankster in gorilla suit, misidentification, or some unknown?) You can believe me or not that is your call. If I do see anyone or anything I will post the pics on the internet and this website. Many people are "weekend warriors", "fair weather hikers/campers", "bullers", etc with little or no training. Many of these so called "investigators" have extnsive websites charging money to go with them on "expeditions", tramping through the forrests talking, laughing in blue jeans and bright colored clothing. When I go out I use "nosss" which is no sight sound smell. In a combat situation deep in enemy country and you do not practice that you my friend are "dead"! I am for real and have had extensive training in the past to deal with many situations. I plan to employ these skills to discern what people I have spoken to are seeing. They are definitely seeing something. Some are law enforcement, experienced hunters, hikers, campers, teachers and the list goes on. They and the "disbelivers" will not go into these areas with me or anyone else. I sent emails to "Fact or Fake" and "Destination Truth" producers with no response. So believe what you will and as I stated previously I take any task seriously and again at the request of friends and people who have seen something I will discover what is out there!

One other thing in case you do not know what "Bingma" means it means "horse soldier". This name was given to me when I lived in Northern China. If you do your research in China they have had sightings of a "wild man" they call a "yeren".

I run into homeless people and their camp sites quite often in the mountains near the city. These guys don't live off the land because I find their trash middens with cans and plastic wrappers. I usually avoid them if I can, as some of these guys are pretty creepy. I also will announce myself and tell them I am just passing though because some of them can be a bit territorial.
