Hillbilly Beast

I saw a program on TV last night about this creature. A bi-pedal bigfoot like meat eater that inhabits the hills of Kentucky. I have never heard of a carnivorous bigfoot before. Anyone have an info on it?

I have read accounts of a bigfoot spotted with a kill or attributed to stealing meat or livestock. All higher primates on occasion will eat meat, even Gorillas.

As of now, gorillas dont. At all.

"There may well be more mundane explanations for the surprising finding—explanations that'd have to be ruled out before gorillas could be reclassified as meat-eaters, said study co-author Grit Schubert, a primatologist at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig, Germany. For example, gorillas are known to eat ants that scavenge the carcasses and bones of monkeys and other mammals. When gorillas eat the ants, they may also be ingesting—and later expelling—the mammal DNA in the ants' digestive tracts, the study authors speculate. Another possibility is that the mammal DNA came from live monkeys or duikers that had been probing the gorilla feces for edible seeds or other leftover plant bits. Or the mammals "might have just licked it, sniffed it, or peed on it," Schubert said."

Youre referring to the history channels monster quest episode?

Yes Agent Mulder. Whatever happened to that show? Are there any new episodes forthcoming? I like it, some interesting topics were discussed.

Nah. That shows finished (last i checked). Which im not too disappointed about. I grew tired of it after a while.

I think the history channel started their "mystery quest" instead.

Realistically speaking, it wouldn't be that unlikely that an ape closely related to man would be omnivorous.

However, realistically speaking, it would be unlikely that said ape could live in North America undiscovered after all this time. Sounds like folk legend to me.

MysteryQuest was canceled as well.

Most higher primates do but Gorillas do not eat meat in any form but Chimps have been known to eat and even hunt for meat

It is i think possible in my opinion that bigfoot would be omnivorous that would make most sense to me considerin we are omnivorous

If a gorilla eats ants, then he's insectivorous, which isn't far from carnivorous.

Gorillas are notoriously difficult to study closely. I would imagine that a gorilla eats a little meat once in a while, perhps a mouse or small fish. Or perhaps he scavenges from fresh kills.

I would think that gorillas are omnivorous.

As for Bigfoot, he's a fable that monetarily enriches some people, and gives others a fun hobby or means to stand apart from the norm (often, very far apart).

I used to believe in Bigfoot, but no longer do. The lack of bones, hide, decent photos or videos don't support its existence. I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, and have hiked and traveled the areas supposedly hot with Bigfoot.

All I ever found was small towns selling Bigfoot souvenirs and some self-proclaimed expert who continually promised he would get the proof he needed, "If only I had some funding."

My reliable sources tell me that Bigfoot has been spotted in the Bellagio Casino in Las Vegas. With ample funding, and a suite at the Bellagio, I believe I have a good chance of spotting him. Of course, I'll need spending money to blend in with the natives, while I interview them. Please fund Gatofeo in this important, scientific venture. Thank you. :w00t:

Just take a drive through any random small town in the hill of Kentucky and you will see dozens of mysterious creatures matching this very same description ;)

What a strange thing to actually post (here for all to read) when it's just based on your 'hunch', your 'idea' or what 'sounds reasonable to you'....

There's no evidence at all for what you;re suggesting (that they eat mice or small fish) yet you post it here as if you know something about gorillas that others don't....

That would be fair if you studied gorilas in the wild and you'd actually gathered some evidence that supports your 'out there' theory...

If you're going to post a theory or hypothesis, shouldn't you say that's what it is, just an hypothesis. (IMHO)

The gorilla diet stuff is a bit off perhaps but he is on target with the crass ways people have made livings off of this and other irrational beliefs. Hypothesis is the correct word in this case. Theories require qualified peer review.

I watched monster quest on Youtube concerning this thing, and a few trailcam pics. If it's real, let's keep it in Kentucky.

Crikey you are crankier than me in this section! LOL

He said it was an idea in his post, that is OK isn't it? But he is not far of the mark. Captive Gorillas will eat meat readily. It does not happen in the wild that we know of, but considering this, it does not seem a stretch that scavenging may well happen.

Wild gorillas are strictly vegetarian but captive gorillas will readily eat meat

Like the vegetarian who can't resist the occasional burger, the otherwise herbivorous gorilla might succumb to cravings for its evolutionary cousins, a new study hints.

While some zoo specimens are known to eat meat, wild gorillas eat only plants and fruit, along with the odd insect—as far as scientists know (see video of wild gorillas feasting on figs).

But a recent study found DNA from monkeys and small forest antelopes called duikers in the feces of wild African western lowland gorillas in Loango National Park in Gabon.

The discovery raises the possibility that gorillas might have a secret meat habit—scavenging or hunting discretely.

First Proof Gorillas Eat Monkeys?

What exactly would the Hillbilly Beast use the KY for?

Did I misread the thread title again?

Well the thing about eating meat is that.. Pretty much ALL Animals will do it if they get the chance. Forestly service did a study years ago and found that the first Animals in North America to find and eat part of a Carcus are almost always DEER. Cows will eat small ground rodents and birds. Chips have been known to hunt (Hell they have been shown to understand the ideal of sharpening and throwing sticks)

Gorillas? Oh ya. They will eat meat if the opportunity presents itself. They are just not active hunters or scavengers.

As far as the HIllbilly beast. Oh my god that's funny.

I remember this show doing there filming pretty close to where I live, everyone around was like "Oh.. What Hillbilly beast? You don't say... What's that?"
They pretty much showed up and payed people to give interviews. And Added in parts about reports of the beast going back to the time of Boone... Ya sure, in so much as they just said they went back that far.

As far as Kyptids go, this one is pretty stupid.

What animals do in a state of not being able to reason ethically has nothing to do with what we should or shouldn't do.  I think most people realize that it is not ethical to kill sentient animals, but rationalize it various ways (find excuses such as the logical fallacy just referred to).

(By the way, from time to time I also will eat meat, I just wish people would learn to be more honest with themselves about this -- and a lot of other things).

You see that's just so cool. You guy's have a beast for every state. All we got is a yowie... well and the young liberal party. And he (the Yowie) and the young liberals, don't care much to being confined in one state.

Ya I feel like this is how a lot of Kytids/Media go.
