Vat Phou Pax, I wouldn't mind contributing some more locations but evidently my degree symbol was throwing off my coordinates. I'm on a Mac and Option + k is the keyboard combination I use in word-processing and design software, but it doesn't look right in my posts. What keyboard combination do you use? Doesn't matter if you're on a PC--it would send me in the right direction, at least.
kmt_sesh Posted June 15, 2011 #112 Share Posted June 15, 2011 I may have found it already. The combination Option + 0 seems to look right: º. Here are your coordinates for Vat Phou Temple: 14°50'53.61" N 105°49'07.57" E Here's how it looks when I type it: 14º50'53.61"N 105º49'07.57"E If you have a moment, would you mind using my coordinates to see if you land on the same spot? I'd appreciate it. I didn't mean for you to have to retype so many of the sites I had contributed earlier, which was very kind of you.

Have you tried using the Edit menu?, 'Edit', 'Copy View Location', then paste that into your post... I tried updating to the latest version of Google Earth (v6) but it didn't work because I don't have an Intel Mac. I'm one model down. In any case I don't have the "Copy View Location" function, which would be awfully nice. Or maybe it's something available on PCs but not Macs when using Google Earth. But let's give it a try with the pyramid complex of King Unis, last Egyptian monarch of Dynasty 5 and the first whose pyramid was inscribed with Pyramid Texts. The coordinates: 29º52'08.32"N 31º12'54.22"E If all goes well you should see something like this: Minus my labeled thumbtacks, of course. This is an old Google Earth image I prepared for a post in a different forum some years ago. If my coordinates work, you should see something similar to the above image. Maybe. Hopefully. WHO U KIDDIN Posted June 15, 2011 #117 Share Posted June 15, 2011 I call them the Stars of Veiques, Puerto Rico. 18'08'18.96"N, 65'18'13.02"W (First star) 18'08'28.23"N, 65'17'05.46"W (Second star) Don't know if they are ancient or not, but they both seem to look like starfishes, perhaps they may be Taino Indian ruins. On the other hand, other people say they may be actually US Navy targets built in the shape of Russian Sam missile battery sites, when Veiques was still used as a firing range for the Navy. But they don't seem to resemble any of the photos of Russian Sam missile batteries sites available on the web.

kmt_sesh Posted June 16, 2011 #125 Share Posted June 16, 2011 Deir el-Bahari One of my very favorite examples of Egyptian engineering. Makes the Great Pyramid seem kind of plain-jane by comparison.
