BUSH HITS OUT AT KERRY

George Bush has attacked Democratic rival John Kerry for his stance on the Iraq war.

The US President said his election opponent was constantly "flip-flopping" when it came to the war.

"My opponent has now voted for the war and against supplying our troops," Mr Bush said while campaigning in Missouri.

"When he got on the Democratic primary he declared himself the anti-war candidate.

"More recently he switched again, saying he would have voted for the war, even knowing everything we know today.

"He woke up yesterday morning with yet another new position. And this one is not even his own. It is the one of is one-time rival Howard Dean.

"He even used the same words Howard Dean did, back when he supposedly disagreed with him.

On Monday, Mr Kerry said the war in Iraq was the "wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time."

President Bush, however, reaffirmed his belief in the decision to go to war.

"No matter how many times Senator Kerry flip-flops we were right to make America safer by removing Saddam Hussein from power," he said.

"We'll help them get to elections, we'll get them on the path to stability and democracy as quickly as possible and then our troops will return home with the honours they have earned."
