Ghosts are not always what they seem

23 posts in this topic

In my last article I mentioned that ghosts and not as cut and dried and plain and simple as you might think, there are many variations to a ghost, I’d like to continue with this so let’s look at some other explanations that may explain ‘some’ ghostly sightings.

Meh... the stone tape theory was a bit interesting though...

While the Stone Tape theory seems valid i'm still old school. Ghosts do exist, i've experienced them, and no rocks were involved.

The problem are those facts, they wont show up for cameras, are always fleeting and usually there is no evidence at all. I inclined to believe that people are haunted rather then places. Also what with the ghost loving to make footstep noises and open and close doors. Its fun entertainment though.

Stone Tape was an interesting theory. As a EE I don't get how it could have retained energy then released it into 20,000 volt each paddles. At 20,000 volts each in a humid environment the paddles could easily arc.Perhaps they intended to use that in some way. I have no idea how such could be an input. The 18 century would be the 17nn's. Did recorders exist then? Maybe he meant the 19 century. (The first gramophone records were made in 1889.)

The main problem with this line of discussion is that it is all make believe and pretend based conjecture. In lieu of actual facts to discuss, we are left to just make theories up. That is why science largely ignores reports of this type of phenomena. Because there is nothing tangible to actually study. Smash rocks apart all you want, there is no recognizable recording device or system inside. That in itself should be the end of such conjecture, but obviously it isn't.

I am not saying ghosts don't exist. I am saying that trying to concoct or dissect any mechanics behind the phenomenon, as this article is attempting to do, is impossible and nothing but a huge session of make believe based on fanciful imagination and nothing more.

Some ghosts appear to be luminescent, they generate light like a glow-worm. One fellow I know who saw one, and I have no doubt he was being truthful, said it lit up a darkened room till it glided through the wall.

Where can we listen to this "stone tape pub recording"? How was this configured with the electrodes?

People make these amazing claims, but rarely follow up with anything that would make a person believe the incredible story. Everyone has heard EVP's(which this sounds like a variation of one) so let's hear the recording.

If I had a nickel for every person who showed up to this site who made incredible claims about ghosts, or UFO's or anything paranormal who claimed to have incredible pictures or mind blowing recordings...that created an incredible claim, then slinked away when asked about the film or audio...

If I was going to be writing a story about the pub, I would already have the audio uploaded and linked before getting to the third paragraph.

I was skeptical myself until an incident with my daughter. She had seen my step brother, whom passed away when she was less than a year old, at my dad's home. My daughter (she was 2 1/2 by this time) wanted to go to the room upstairs (which was my step brothers room before being converted into an office). I told her no and my daughter replied "but he does" and I asked her "who does?" and she said, "the boy that lives upstairs" ......and that just freaked me out.

I do not care what anyone says, 2 yr. old children do not make up stories about such things. Especially since she never met him, did not know that "the boy upstairs" was deceased and they just simply can't comprehend making up untrue stories about ghosts. Hell, my daughter didn't even ever use the word ghost.

So I am convinced to this day that spirits (or ghosts) do in fact, exist.

My friend lived across the street from me and one day she came over like she always did and told me "I could'nt sleep over because her house was haunted". I used to be so bummed that she would always want to sleep over at my house and I could'nt at hers and she continued to tell me that there was a man who always used to watch her sleep and it freaked her out. Now I lived in this house for 26years and I can honestly say that NO One ever spent more than 1-2 years in that house as a matter of fact it is for sale right now!

Here we go again with the alternative explanations for paranormal activity. The Stone Tape theory is a doozy. EVP research is controllable, reproducable, and yields tangible results. It is not difficult to access sites which can provide examples. Ghosts are a good explanation for the audio captures, however there may be other intelligences that can utilize this method as well. Viewed objectively, the only other possible explanation for voices that respond to specific questions might be the ability of the experimenter to somehow transfer psychic messages onto the recording. This theory is far less plausible than the others, and would still be considered paranormal. Although EVP does represent scientific method, it is ignored by the scientific community. Catch up, scientists.

If you are curious about EVP, I suggest you access this recording. It is from the Mercury 5 mission which included the Enos the Chimp being launched into space. The launch occurred Nov 29, 1961 and orbited the Earth twice before returning.

Here is a box.com link to a folder containing 2 audio clips:

http://www.box.com/s/v2jjmr9t8lfeqef1xe2h

One clip is un-filtered and the other a filtered version. They are from the mission control recording of the flight.

In the clips, the EVP runs from 5 to 9.5 seconds. It appears to be a female speaking to another saying:

"if you dial 911....you're not going to go on this flight"

A couple of things that are great about this clip is that one....the 911 system did not come about until 1968 and even at that....did not go national until 1972.

Two....Since 911 is an American emergency help system, the EVP might have seemed appropriate when you consider that Enos the chimp had a rough go of things during this flight. While the trauma was more than anticipated, Enos did survive his ordeal.

This EVP is one of many that display an underlying time / dimensional aspect. Many years ago, NASA enlisted the help of Raudive, an EVP pioneer, to try to explain other mysterious voices captured during space missions.

It is not healthy to leave the earth's general atmosphere in physical form. Remember animals are much more sensitive to the earth's magnetic field and that my friends is exactly what protects ours. I saw a ghost behind my house one night. It was like 1:30 am and this old guy was walking down my alley and stopped at the fence right across from me, pulled like one 6" board out (or in), it was dark, and literally stepped through the fence and was freaking gone! There is literally less than 8 inches between the slats and that would be physically impossible for a grown man. I have never seen that happen since or before that time and have lived here for almost 8 yrs. Plus I know for a fact the fence does not do that NOR can you pull a single board and just step through and disappear. At first I thought nothing of it and then like a very few minutes later I was thinking, 'was that a ghost'? Like I said it was dark and not another soul was stirring.

Based on my experience. You can have chidren's steps one time and another you can hear heavy person steps. Or you can have it play with toys and another time you hear a mature woman's voice. I think its something else pretending to be something else and that's sneeky and scary.

Also its active during day or night, whenever it wants.

Ok first I'm not highly educated on speaking about what science is saying now days about the paranormal, other then if you can't prove what you see or hear etc, then its not truth. Anyhow!

There is something to be said about energy around us, and how some people can pick up on it and others can't. Like the walls in a building holds past ( lets say memories ). And a EVP can hold voices that can't be explained.

"Ghost " that many say they have seen or heard, it will always come down to one thing, (everyone in the world) would have to be present to EXPERIENCE THE EVENT themselves before believing! There will never be away of proving anything till we all are there... to witness! No matter what you read or hear will make a difference. Same with UFO's, Bigfoot etc...till you see it for yourself, shrugs..belief is within the beholder!

I personally believe there is spirits and lets say other things, because of experiences of my own.
