A frequently discussed topic, but never put to a Poll that I can remember.

Personnally, I vote for a hybrid straight/spiral ramp. a broad straight ramp that evolves into a switchback ramp as the ramp goes above 50% of the height of the pyramid.

The builders literally claimed that the Gods literally built the pyramids.

I believe them. I believe they always knew what they were talking about even if they were even more ignorant than we are.

so, if the god's built them as you 'believe" what would account of your 'Geyser" theory?? -The "gods" taking a "pee"?

or what would account for your "CO2" theory? - The "gods" passing wind??

I picked "other" because I believe it was not just a "hybrid" straight ramp - spiral ramp.

I believe there would have been several types, including internal.

The poll only allowed for one choice.

Osiris was literally a cold water geyser just as Re' was "literally" the sun and Isis was literally the counterweight where Osiris turned into Seker who was literally the ballast. etc... etc... etc...

I don't think the Egyptians built them. Who did I don't know but I believe they are older than we are led to believe. no evidence just my gut feeling

Given that their kings were worshiped as gods they could just be refering to past pharaohs who supervised the construction.

This could be true.

However not one single thing survives from before the 5th dynasty and

our understanding of the great pyramid builders is primarily composed

of ideas from later times. I would agree that it's obvious that the

king was virtually a god on earth if not a god on earth but the PT

seems to suggest he did have some human characteristics including the

ability to die if he led the wrong life or failed to maintain ma'at.

More to the point, however, is that they name the specific Gods who built

the pyramids. These Gods were the earthly ennead and each God was charged

with a specific task. There's no apparent way that the king might have

been all of these Gods though he was responsible for their activity be-

fore he died (normally through regicide). After death he was, in a sense,

all of these Gods as he was Isis N as surely as Osiris N but gods and

dead kings can't build pyramids in the concrete world. Only Atum in

conjunction with the Gods of the earth could build pyramids.

I guess I missed the important point of your proposal.

I used to toy a great deal with the idea that the Gods were all dead kings from

more ancient times. This can't really be ruled out but some of these Gods are

very alien to humanity. Dead kings might take on wholly new characteristics af-

ter ascension but you still have difficulty with concepts like Atum being the

"Creator God" from which all divinity and humanty sprang. How could a dead king

exist before humanity or Gods?

To maintain a literal consistency I dropped this idea. Of course it might still

be true but it doesn't appear to fit literally.

We have no writings left to us by the "builders" of the pyramids, other than some graffiti, some quarry marks and some lists of various goods and services.

Which with on certainty bordering probability indicates the existence of Geysers as you know... (49 sxcd and the windmills that you find are the geysers in your mind)

More ignorant than we are? You obviously have little knowledge of the Egyptians. In fact, you have little knowledge about anything if you believe the "gods" built the pyramids.

Are you suggesting the builders had more knowledge than we do? Individually

they may have but they were highly deficient as a society abbout things like

aeronautics and telecommunications. Computer programmers couldn't even get

work. ;)

Any one think that shafts may have been ramps?

http://en.wikipedia....mid_Diagram.svg

Not the shafts themselves, but the idea that they had a secondary function (such as stabilizing) for shafts {edit} ramps and scaffolding might not be too far fetched.

So?
