2012 and the End of the World

Here's a refreshing spin on the Mayan "end of the world" scenario. My boss at the museum emailed this to me and I thought some of the folks at UM would get a kick out of it.

That's all I need to say. Watch, laugh, and enjoy.

Love it :w00t:

But there will still be those who think the world will end.

Shame it wont though, I could have built up so much credit on my cards

My favorite line, and it bears repeating: New Agers are "happy though scientifically illiterate people."

Glad you folks enjoyed it. Spread the word (meaning, the video)!

This will certainly brighten up my day! You should tell your boss that his find has spread alot of good laughs.

Ancient Mayans stopped making calenders so it's the end of the world? Right. I get tired of planning half a year forward in my calender, I can't picture going a few milleniums.

The 2012 hype started when a new age writer called Jose Arguelles needed his 15 minutes of fame.

He got more than that, he sold more than a million copies of his book.

Socalled "Mayan Elders" smelled money, and helped to spread the news.

The real Mayan elders knew nothing about these Doomsday prophecies, and just mumbled about some crazy Western guy raping the remnants of their culture.

I will predict that at December 2012 only Arguelles and his followers will have a bad time, and why?

The whole world will laugh at their faces.

The fkg date is even wrong: it should be around 2220 AD.

But don't you all worry, within a month some other idiot will come up with a new doomsday prediction, and the gullible will again swallow it all up, hook line and sinker, and create another zillion websites and books.

If these idiots had been right, we would have been whiped out like 10 times the past century.

Even the Jehova Witnesses stopped publishing their doomsday crappola.

That should tell you something.
