Robbie333 Posted February 3, 2012 #28 Share Posted February 3, 2012 I have read probably about 20 books in my entire life, but am hoping to change that as I re-kindled (no pun intended) my interest in reading. Something about it has just appealed to me lately. My favourite book... ever? Probably A Wrinkle in Time. It's a timeless classic by madeline l'engle. Yours? Not to change the subject but I have recommended this book in here a lot. Very fun, refreshing and different kind of book to read. Give it a go. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/miss-peregrines-home-for-peculiar-children-ransom-riggs/1100388567
+Link of Hyrule Posted February 6, 2012 #29 Share Posted February 6, 2012 I also greatly enjoy Wheel of Time.. just wish he didnt die before completing the last book. You know that Robert Jordan's wife has got a shadow writer to complete the series now? Brandon Sanderson. Robert Jordan knew he was going to die and devoted large chunks of time to outlining the story chapter-by-chapter of the rest of the book. Some chapters have only a paragraph summary, other chapters were actually and totally complete. Whatever the case, his vision lives on and books 12 and 13 have been released in the past 24 months. The final book 14 last I knew should have been due out in December 2011, but the release date has been pushed back to an unknown time in 2012. Whatever the case, it's actually getting really interesting and I can't wait for the last book (well, I've been waiting for many years - I began reading when only books 1-4 were out and I had no idea the series was going to be this complex - so really, another month or two is not going to kill me, in the context of 15 years or so). Taun Posted April 4, 2012 #50 Share Posted April 4, 2012 I read a lot, in different kind of genres, so it has to be many favorites. here are some FANTASY The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan The Belgariad Series by David Eddings SCIENCE FICTION/SPECULATIVE FICTION Dune Series by Frank Herbert & later by Brian Herbert/Kevin J. Anderson ALTERNATIVE HISTORY The 1632 series/Ring of Fire series by Eric Flint HISTORICAL FICTION Sharpe Series and Azincourt by Bernard Cornwell Spartan: I really liked the Belgariad and the Wheel of Time series at first.. then they started annoying me with the way he wrote all of his female characters as 'super smart', 'super in control' and all the men as bumbling idiots - even though the main male character of each was 'the chosen one'... Dune was great but I really didn't care for the sequels... Ringworld and 1632 series were brilliant... Have you read any of Harry Turtledove's books? IMO he is the Master of Alternate History... The Misplaced Legion series is my favorite...
