Strange metal boxes along coastal beaches

Strange metal box, with no opening or seam, stuck in the surf up is one of a possible group of a dozen or more that have been sited up and down along Oregon, Washington State and Northern California beaches.Meanwhile, the British government also photographed similar huge metal boxes on beaches in Sri Lanka in the late 1990’s and in early 2004 and 2005. arrow3.gifRead more...

Surely someone would have investigated these boxes by now.

After all they could be drugs or a bomb (possibly) so a government agency would have taken them away.

(If there is any truth in this report)

I agree with the above post. If anything like that turned up on the beach the first thought would be some kind of mine and the place would be swarming with bomb disposal experts. Where have all these boxes gone?

As for the photo, it is pretty inconclusive. The photographer made the error of taking the photo with the sun facing him/her so not a great deal of detail. (although according to the report there isnt much detail anyway)

This is a hoax. Multiple reasons for this.

1. The author is a known hoaxer

2. No officials near Stonefield beach have heard of this.

3. No local papers have heard of this.

4. If this story was true, the beach would have been full of military personnel within minutes of the first witness report. No locals or officials have witnessed this

My first thought is that perhaps the boxes are some type of debris (perhaps military?) from the Japan Tsunami? :unsure2:

My first thought was, before looking into it, maybe nuclear waste containers from Japan?

Wow having a bad grammar day.

Possibly a marine hot water tank. Seems too simple though. Wouldnt explain not being able to pull it or no markings either.

When I googled "strange metal boxes washed ashore" all I found where links to paranormal sights. No major media reports were found. That makes me think it is a hoax.

The only thing that makes me think this isn't a total hoax is Bill Hanshumaker Ph.d....he's a real person and a respected marine biologist

I wonder if he actually did the interview and knows if his name is being used in conjunction with this story

if anyone is that interested his public email can be found on this page http://hmsc.oregonstate.edu/visitor/visit/about-us

We don't get any news here in Australia in the form of "Something strange washed up but the gov doesn't know what it is!" Once they know what something is, then we find out. If they never find out, most of us never hear about it.

I don't see any markings on the exposed parts visible there. I do see holes for the circulation pipes. If it drifted in and then got filled with water or sand, it'd weigh as much as a solid block of concrete. That just leaves the alleged humming.

Youd just need a bit of sea breeze blowing across the circulation pipe holes to make some sort of sound.

this thread got me intrigues so I did a bit of digging. Apparently the brits found same boxes in Sri Lanka years ago..

the guys at ATS have someone driving down there to get some real info/pics

http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread807508/pg1

One thing that puzzles me if this is true, if they are un-movable, how can they have been washed up? Unless the story means un-moveable coz they're half buried?

Plus heres a youtube clip:

Sorry, I have seen sail boats, fishing boats, numerous trucks, huge drift wood logs, all dug up and towed off the beach.......I do not think a box would be a big deal.....

Not to mention, I guarantee the story on the Oregon Coast box is a hoax.......

One thing i've noticed about the photo, which may seem a bit offbeat to some: Some people are "energy sensitives", probably quite a few on this site. They can actually feel the "energy"/electro magnetic vibrations/chi coming from/off of people, places, things, and photos of any of these, because photos carry the same vibes as the subject photographed. I'm one of these folks. Being one is a double edged sword. It's great when you are in contact with high vibes, and quite unpleasant when in the neighborhood of low ones. In any event i can "read" from the picture/photo of the box that it emits a rather high and potent frequency. This means to me that it is no ordinary object, including debris from FuuKuuu, etc. Anyway..... I commented on this here http://indigosociety.com/showthread.php?52063-Yet-More-And-Immovable-OnShore-Strange-Metal-Boxes It is really quite mysterious. I hope you find this comment helpful :)

Well, what can i say. That's my take, hoax or not. BTW has it been absolutely established that it is a hoax? In any event, based on my experience of the vibes, hopefully not delusional :), that the box is certainly far from being an "ordinary" object that one would find on this planet

Subject: " mysterious box's found oregon coast"

Message:

Wondering if you are aware of the " news " that mysterious metal boxes were found on the Oregon Coast...With OSU and Bill Hanshumaker used in the article?

Can you please verify this is a hoax....

"As of late afternoon Feb. 8, Bill Hanshumaker, a public marine specialist and (Ph.D) doctor of marine science at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in nearby Newport, told Huliq in an interview that, "I don't know what they are." In turn, Doctor Hanshumaker said he's advised "surf monitoring" about these strange metal boxes that suddenly appeared along local beaches Feb. 6, and now seem to be multiplying like Star Trek "Tribbles." The photograph that accompanies this report – taken during the afternoon of Feb. 8 near Bray's Point -- of yet another strange metal box stuck in the surf up is one of a possible group of a dozen or more that have been sited up and down West Coast beaches. Meanwhile, the British government also photographed similar huge metal boxes on beaches in Sri Lanka in the late 1990's and in early 2004 and 2005. The discovery of the boxes is detailed in updated previously classified reports from the British government that document sightings of unidentified flying objects by both the military and the general public dating back to the 1950s."

I do not think we need to wait........*snip*

February 14, 2012 - Oregon Beach Metal Boxes? No Evidence. "I sent some assistants this weekend to the beach areas that are supposed

to have the 'unmovable' metal boxes and there is nothing there."

- William Hanshumaker, Ph.D., Hatfield Marine Science Center, Newport, Oregon

Two recent internet "news" stories have been circulated by a Dave Masko claiming 5-foot by 5-foot by nearly 1-foot-high metal boxes that made odd sounds had washed up on southern Oregon beaches such as Stonefield and Bray's Point since the first week of January 2012. The second Masko story referenced William Hanshumaker, Ph.D., who is a Senior Instructor at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, Oregon. On Friday morning, February 10, 2012, I talked with Prof. Hanshumaker about the Masko article. Prof. Hanshumaker said he did not know anything about the metal boxes until Masko called his office around 5 PM on Thursday, February 9, 2012. Prof. Hanshumaker said he would make no comment until he saw the metal boxes for himself.

Today, February 14, 2012, Prof. Bill Hanshumaker phoned me to say that assistants he asked to search this past weekend for the alleged metal boxes could find nothing. Further, half a dozen State Police, Coast Guard and police offices I contacted that have jurisdictions along the Oregon beaches do not have any report about metal boxes washed up on beaches to date. KVAL CBS 13 in Eugene, Oregon, east of the beaches, has never had a report of such metal boxes either.

I also contacted the NOAA Marine Debris Program and talked with the West Coast Regional Coordinator, Nir Barnea, who is unaware of any metal box debris. Mr. Barnea did confirm that computer models indicate Japan's tsunami debris will start washing up on North American west coast beaches in 2013. NOAA is holding public meetings with some beach communities to answer questions. So far, scientists do not think the Japanese debris will have much radioactivity if and when it washes up on west coast beaches. Anyone who might have hard evidence about metal boxes that authorities can investigate, please email: earthfiles@earthfiles.com. Or call the Western Regional Oregon State Police dispatch office in Oregon at 541-265-5353. Also see: NOAA Marine Debris Program.

Let me put it to you this way: WHATEVER that photo is of, THAT object has a high vibe, at least to me. Can you handle that? I am NOT heavily invested in this matter at all -- guaranteed !! I just thought the info would be helpful :)

I can handle that you think that, but I do not think your " vibes " are what you state they are......

Anyway, it is a hoax........Maybe you can tune those vibes in to help debunk photos and videos?
