Rafterman Posted April 22, 2012 #51 Share Posted April 22, 2012 It's beyond me how any man can think they have any right to make decisions about womens reproductive health. So any male judge should recuse himself on any issue dealing with women's reproductive health?

It's beyond me how NOW and the authors of part of VAWA can tell men who they can marry and how many times...
Insaniac Posted April 22, 2012 #53 Share Posted April 22, 2012 Just a reminder. The Government doesn't give a damn about you. War. On women. Wake up.
ninjadude Posted April 22, 2012 #54 Share Posted April 22, 2012 (edited) So any male judge should recuse himself on any issue dealing with women's reproductive health? Judges yes, male or otherwise have no business in it. And that includes lawmakers as well. Edited April 22, 2012 by ninjadude
Tiggs Posted April 22, 2012 #55 Share Posted April 22, 2012 The facts don't support your position and prove that the system does, indeed, work: No. The facts support my position entirely, even if the Republicans failed on the first time of trying. Just so there's no doubt, however - from the GOP 2008 platform: Faithful to the first guarantee of the Declaration of Independence, we assert the inherent dignity and sanctity of all human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. We support a human life amendment to the Constitution, and we endorse legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children. We oppose using public revenues to promote or perform abortion and will not fund organizations which advocate it. We support the appointment of judges who respect traditional family values and the sanctity and dignity of innocent human life. We have made progress. The Supreme Court has upheld prohibitions against the barbaric practice of partial-birth abortion. States are now permitted to extend health-care coverage to children before birth. And the Born Alive Infants Protection Act has become law; this law ensures that infants who are born alive during an abortion receive all treatment and care that is provided to all newborn infants and are not neglected and left to die. We must protect girls from exploitation and statutory rape through a parental notification requirement. We all have a moral obligation to assist, not to penalize, women struggling with the challenges of an unplanned pregnancy. At its core, abortion is a fundamental assault on the sanctity of innocent human life. Women deserve better than abortion. Every effort should be made to work with women considering abortion to enable and empower them to choose life. We salute those who provide them alternatives, including pregnancy care centers, and we take pride in the tremendous increase in adoptions that has followed Republican legislative initiatives. Ratte Posted April 23, 2012 #56 Share Posted April 23, 2012 So any male judge should recuse himself on any issue dealing with women's reproductive health? Yes. Men shouldn't make a call on something they can never experiance.
Betrayal of Humanity Posted April 23, 2012 #57 Share Posted April 23, 2012 (edited) Yes. Men shouldn't make a call on something they can never experiance. War on women? Ha! That's ******* bull-crap. What real woman would choose her life over the life of her child? You seem to think that men are the only ones who are against abortion. What about the countless women who are against it? I guess they must not count as "real" women since they know that children in the womb deserve a right to life just like anyone else. The only war that is going on here is against a Child's right to live. Editing to add: I am not saying women should be made to have children, if you don't want one then don't have sex, get sterilized or take the proper precautions, but if you do get pregnant then that child has the right to live. States are now permitted to extend health-care coverage to children before birth And what about after birth for the child and the mother? Is that guaranteed? Of course not. What is a guarantee is that if a woman has a child she can't afford that child will become a welfare check to whatever state it resides in. If I were in that situation I would abort the baby. It's more merciful than to have a child and have them used for a welfare check to the masses. These people aren't concerned about any human life. It's all about money. rashore Posted April 23, 2012 #60 Share Posted April 23, 2012 I'm not sure I can agree with the term "war on women". We do seem to love to toss the word war on to just about anything to make it a catchy cause. Anywho... I think the expansions to the VAWA are great and should be supported. In fact, I think the whole act should be renamed to something else and should wholly include coverage for men who are victims as well. Perhaps DVVA- Domestic Violence and Violations Act. I never called it a 'war on women', I just said men should butt out of womens decisions. This doesn't only refer to abortion, but also birth controll and porn. Many women would choose their lives over their unborn and in certain circumstances, I don't blame them one bit. If a woman is the bread-winner for her family and getting pregnant would lose her her job, what then? What if in having a child, there is a chance of her dying? IMO, it's not a baby until it looks like one. That doesn't give much wiggle roon, but still. Niki would like me to point out that 75% of people who are against abortion are men. 100% of men will never get pregnant.

That's true, I suppose, but one would think most men would have the decency to stop putting their pricks where they don't belong. Metaphorically, of course.
