Still Waters Posted May 6, 2012 #1 Share Posted May 6, 2012 'This is a nose we’re growing for a patient next month,’ Professor Alexander Seifalian says matter-of-factly, plucking a Petri dish from the bench beside him.Inside is an utterly lifelike appendage, swimming in red goo. Alongside it is another dish containing an ear. ‘It’s a world first,’ he says smiling. ‘Nobody has ever grown a nose before.’ His lab is little more than a series of worn wooden desktops strewn with beakers, solutions, taps, medical jars, tubing and paperwork, and looks like a school chemistry lab. But it’s from here that Seifalian leads University College London’s (UCL) Department of Nanotechnology and Regenerative Medicine, which he jokingly calls the ‘human body parts store’. http://www.dailymail...pare-parts.html
Mikko-kun Posted May 6, 2012 #2 Share Posted May 6, 2012 That's the next Nokia. I wonder who's gonna cash in on that.

Ashotep Posted May 6, 2012 #4 Share Posted May 6, 2012 Someday lose a limb or need a heart and they will grow you one. Maybe it will end human trafficking for body parts. That will be a very good thing.
Mikko-kun Posted May 6, 2012 #5 Share Posted May 6, 2012 That's good Hilander, but I can see someone implanting a bomb or something inside the new organ and pressing the button just to make a money. This world is about reaping our living from others' spines, and it will only be more ruthless if we try to run from what we cant yet outrun. Anyways, seen the movie about these guys collecting back artificial organs from people who couldn't pay their dues? I've heard the saying "what happens in the movies often reflects our future".
