Still Waters Posted June 10, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2012 The fact that Timothy Brown is a reasonably healthy 46-year-old is no small thing. Only a few years ago, he had AIDS."I feel good," Brown told ABC News. "I haven't had any major illnesses, just occasional colds like normal people." Brown is the only person in the world to be cured of AIDS, the result of a transplant of blood stem cells he received to treat leukemia. "My case is the proof in concept that HIV can be cured," he said. http://news.yahoo.co...ews-health.html
69dinner42 Posted June 11, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 11, 2012 What about Magic Johnson? Or was that HIV? Either way, I know he has no trace of it in his blood tests now.
+OverSword Posted June 11, 2012 #3 Share Posted June 11, 2012 (edited) Didn't you see the episode of southpark where the boys go to Magic Johnson's house to ask him how he is still alive. The answer to the question, as it turned out, was that there is a cure for AIDS, money. Edited June 11, 2012 by OverSword
ROGER Posted June 11, 2012 #4 Share Posted June 11, 2012 Didn't you see the episode of southpark where the boys go to Magic Johnson's house to ask him how he is still alive. The answer to the question, as it turned out, was that there is a cure for AIDS, money. Sad to think that is the case for most cures is it not?

miss_fionna Posted June 11, 2012 #6 Share Posted June 11, 2012 Depending on your definition of cured, others have too. I think it might not be considered a "cure" because of the maintenance care, which is really sad.

Whatsinausername Posted June 12, 2012 #10 Share Posted June 12, 2012 So he's 100% HIV/AIDS free? And not infectious? I'm a little skeptical.. but if he is, that's great.
+DieChecker Posted June 12, 2012 #11 Share Posted June 12, 2012 (edited) What about Magic Johnson? Or was that HIV? Either way, I know he has no trace of it in his blood tests now. Magic Johnson has not been cured of AIDS. He never had AIDS. He has HIV, the virus that can lead into AIDS. He takes regular treatments for his HIV every day. http://en.wikipedia....i/Magic_Johnson To prevent his HIV infection from progressing to AIDS, Johnson takes a daily combination of drugs. http://www.pbs.org/w...i-am-not-cured/ But among the biggest myths he wants to set straight is that he has not been cured. http://www.thebody.com/content/62493/magic-johnson-is-not-cured-of-hiv.html Edited June 12, 2012 by DieChecker
+DieChecker Posted June 12, 2012 #12 Share Posted June 12, 2012 http://news.yahoo.co...ews-health.html This is really cool. Perhaps if they figure out what it is the mutation that prevents HIV infection is, then they can distribute that to infected people and effectively cure HIV and AIDS.
