Controlling armed slaves is difficult. It requires decades of public schooling and constant media brainwashing about "the public good".

If the slaves are disarmed, it's much cheaper to control them, and thus more profitable.

In Australia, for the most part, we don't have guns... and it makes no difference to people's opposition to government policies. I'm trained and proficient in firearms but I prefer not to have one at home; there is no need for it.

How would you protect your wife and children if a gang of criminals invaded your home?

Global gun control? Yes I'm sure that will be in place just days after everyone gets their free flying car.

Well thank God you live in Austraila,You must be very lucky to live in a place where guns are outlawed,I on the other hand Live in America where we are allowed to have them.I will not give them up and I will not allow anyone to take them from me without some fight or death.Too many idiots in the government think we dont need them.Well over here if you have them you are safe if you dont your just a victim in waiting,If they were to outlaw guns then dang I guess Ill just have to become an Outlaw.I too am Highly Trained and Highly Proficient in all firearms but I prefer to have more than one in my house,There IS a NEED for IT.I WILL ALWAYS HAVE THEM.

Thanks to Port Arthur and Johnny Howard....

Defence of my property is the only reason I would use it. Better to have one and not need it, than need it and not have it right?

No, I disagree. You don't need to "defend" your property with a firearm. You don't need a firearm.

Are you serious, or are you being facetious?

What people in the US do is no concern of mine; you decide what is right for your country.

I'm an Australian citizen, however, and in my country I don't want the majority of people to have access to firearms.

I moved to France just about 4 years ago, of course I had to leave all my guns in the US. To be honest I mist them. There isn't any protection here from the police who are more scared of bad guys than the population (las year two cops ran away from 4 teens drinking in a park and carrying knifes). Because of some stoopid socialists laws, Cops are not allowed to shoot without an outcry of the leftist media and justice. A police officer has more chances to end up in jail for usin hs gun than a criminal. Just yesterday I signed a petition to allow self defence. UN disarmed France in the early 80's when a socialist government was in place was devastating. Even in small town like the one I live now there isn't any safe time of day. Mother has been robbed once, a friend of hers once, my neighbor twice. I'm setting iron bars on the windows of the second floor, already have some on the first..

And guess what, only illegal immigrants now are armed (with SKS and 45 cal 1911s)(SKS Chinese kalashnikovs very cheap to buy and very good quality)

I wish all the morons in America who think like you moved to your country.

I love how people from other countries think they know whats best for me and my family. You dont think you need a fire arm, great, dont have one. But what gives you the right to tell me what I need?

edit to add-didnt see your next post. Thanks for at least understanding that my guns are no one elses business.

Agree 100%. Although I don't keep mine around for protection as much as sport. What's more fun than going out and firing off a hundred or so rounds from an AR-15 and AK-74?

Me too. I got kids here, so they have to be under lock. My only hope to use them as defense is if my 2 rotties give me enough time to get everything unlocked.

Edit to add- have you seen the exploding targets? Oh man we have a blast (no pun intended) taking a few of them out into the woods. I cant even believe they are legal. Especialy here in NY.

You consider that a sport? The shooting sport I have seen so far looks very different.

That you can own a gun for protection is one thing, but that you can simply take your high caliber guns to the woods and shoot some explosivbe targets goes beyond my comprehension.
