72 posts in this topic

Morality police in the Ukraine are trying to get Nickelodeon cartoon SpongeBob Squarepants banned because of its perceived ‘promotion of homosexuality’.

The Ukraine’s National Expert Commission for Protecting Public Morality released the report, calling the children’s cartoon a ‘real threat to children’.

I always knew SpongeBob was evil! Seriously, though, this is just kind of ridiculous.

I agree, it's completely ridiculous. But then these are 'morality police' which are a oncept that is, in itself, utterly ridiculous.

Exactly, what's a "morality police"?

Technically, sponges are both male and female (in the same sponge) and can reproduce both sexually (with other sponges) and asexually (by themselves). So, it would actually be impossible for a sponge to be homosexual!

I think I've just put this one to rest...Sponge Bob can't be gay.

Oh, Lilly, you need to get out more :) .

And no, this isn't another version of the Teletubbies farce.

i didnt know sponge bob was gay. where does it say he is gay? now that i think about it he never tried to hit on sandy ( maybe because she is a squirrel). didnt he go on a pantie raid with Patrick tho? or was that because they use the panties to dress up as girls (so many questions now). but i always did think squid-ward was gay >.>

Believes spongebob promotes homosexuality, doesn't ban computers even though they were invented by a homosexual.

Spongebob has a crush on Sandy, a female (although a very tomboyish) squirrel. So he is definately not gay.

No, not Spongebob.

All right, he and Patrick are close and he does chase Sandy around when she's under water.

But what else is a sponge to do at Bikini Bottom?

Morality police, huh? It's a shame that they can't police their own stupidity.

Unfortunately, were there such a thing as the 'stupidity police' they'd have to be superhuman to even make a dent in this particular problem.

Oh for goodness sake! It's a cartoon. Some cartoons are intentionally political but Spongebob.... seriously... it's just a happy little sponge that flips burgers and lives in a pineapple. The Hoff was in an episode so that proves it is just lighthearted and brainless actually, which we need more of in this world, IMO.

Not to mention the mermaid from the SpongeBob movie.

You don't suppose the mermaid was *gasp* in drag do you?

I'd figure politicians would love Spongebob. He works countless hours for pennies and is always happy to do more. What better lesson to teach the populace than to work hard, take what you get, and be happy about it

Cartoons seem so stupid these days.... Morality police, why not? After all the government of the world in developed countries keep an eye on the education given to children. So why not also keeping an eye on the programs aimed at children?

I don't find it stupid at all.
