UK store opens a string of Santa's grottos

7 posts in this topic

It's not even the end of summer yet, but that has not stopped bosses at Asda from opening a string of Santa's grottos around the country, four months before Christmas.

Stores across the country have had criticism levelled at them from parents saying that it is 'too early' for them to be getting into the festive spirit.

Sharon Spencer, a mother-of-three from Gravesend, Kent, said the appearance of grottos was putting an unnecessary pressure on parents being pestered by their children.

Not surprised. In my last job I was sales assistant in a gift shop and our Christmas run-up started around September, that was bad enough, I was then shocked to the core when reading a Q & A in our weekly newsletter. One of the questions was whether we could start the Christmas run up in August, the answer was that it was a great idea and they'd look into it.

We went into administration and closed down a few months later.

Thank god...

They do that here too and I wish they wouldn't. I think it lessens the holiday spirit and by the time December rolls around I'm tired of looking at the christmas stuff.

I was yelled at for being excited about Halloween coming . "too soon"

Good thing I'm not a huge Xmas fan .
