Foul smell is being reported in southern California. It's being smelled for miles ,and making people sick.

It's alleged to be a rotten egg smell, but can possibly be from fish dying off the coast .

Nothing definative as an answer,as of yet .

I surely can answer the mystery: The Salton Sea is stinking up Southern California for days, the state's largest lake is saltier than the Pacific ocean have its wildlife of birds and fish die in massive deaths from exposure to toxic algae blooms which happen every summer. The Salton sea is shrinking and dying off after one century of existence as a result of a dam break in the Colorado River and after two years of repairing the diverted river's course, a "lake" formed to give the California desert a scenic body of water and once was heavily visited for its water sports from the 1940s to the 1980s when things began to change.

Wouldn't rotting fish smell of, well, rotting fish, instead of rotting eggs?

We had a bad smell rising up from the ground for weeks and it could be smelt for a good mile or so anyway to make a long story short it was an old pig farm that had been buried and built on so maybe it is something similar.
