Paramys Posted October 12, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 12, 2012 Anyone missing a giant eyeball? This freakishly large peeper was found washed up on a Florida beach - and no one can be sure where it's from...yet Gino Covacci spotted the eyeball on Wednesday as he strolled on Pompano Beach. http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2012/10/12/giant-eyeball-washes-up-on-florida-beach-baffles-scientists-picture_n_1960411.html?utm_hp_ref=uk
Grey14 Posted October 12, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 12, 2012 there is already a topic about this but in my opinion it is the eye of a Marlin(swordfish) they look exactly the same.
Insanity Posted October 12, 2012 #3 Share Posted October 12, 2012 I think the size is about right for a large whale, but too small to belong to a mature giant squid. A dissection will show who or what it belongs too, there are several anatomical differences between mammalian, cephalopod, and fish eyes, that identification should be fairly easy.
