He's lovely! I remember seeing one(dead), in the museum in Liverpool when I was a very small child. It was stretched out and attached to the wall. I remember staring at it in fascination and I kept asking my Gran, "Is it real? Is it a real one?". The biggest crabs I'd seen before that were about 4" long ...... on the beaches of N.Wales.

I've seen them at the aquarium in Osaka Japan .

The tank its in is the height of the building ,and you work your way downward in a spiral ,around the tank ,which is round .

You see the sealife that likes each depth ,as you go down .

There are other tanks on the opposite walls from the main tank too .

They used to have a giant sunfish ,in a tank of his own .He was huge .

When you get to the bottom level ,the life on the floor is quite different from levels above .

Very few fish ,and just numerous giant crabs .

The bigger ones are as tall as I am . They sort of hang out in clusters too.

Two in one corner ,four of them congregating in the middle .

They look very much like giant Alaskan king crabs to me ,so I would assume you can eat them . I don't think anyone does though
