Elephant crushes keeper at Sydney zoo

5 posts in this topic

A female keeper at Sydney's Taronga Zoo is in a life threatening condition after being crushed against a fence post an elephant know as 'Mr Shuffles'.

Paramedics told reporters that the woman in her 40s had suffered severe chest injuries and her heart stopped beating for five minutes before she was revived and taken to hospital.

That's so sad. Elephants are such powerful creatures.

At the very least she's alive.

Another female zoo keeper in another elephant-related accident in New Zealand didn't make it :(

This is going to be a little gross, so I apologize in advance:

I once read a confirmed practice in some country(I think in Africa somewhere) that a very long time ago, executions were carried-out by strapping a prisoner's head to a cut-down tree trunk, and a trained elephant would hover one of its feet over the condemmed.

When the signal was given the elephant would crush the head.

I wish her well.

What a horrible way to be executed and to use that elephant that way.
