Controlling your dreams?

5 posts in this topic

Hi there everyone,

So I joined UM quite a few years ago, but haven't been on in quite awhile. Glad to be back.

I have noticed for awhile now (say 2 years-ish) that when I dream, and I dream alot, that I am usually quite aware that I am dreaming and can control some aspects of it. I've had dreams which should be absolutely terrifying, but i'm aware that I am dreaming so it doesn't scare me. Or I can control what I do in my dream. It's almost like I am actually in my dream, not just watching it (if that makes sense). I don't know if this is strange or not, I was just wondering if anyone else could do that.

It's quite a popular topic on these forums from what I've seen.

Edit: Spelling. Serves me right for editing in the middle of sentences.

Hmm.. there ya go :) read your link. Not so weird at all I guess. Thanks for the post. I remember the other night, I was having a dream about my husband, not going to get into specifics but i was NOT happy, and I remember thinking "when I wake up, he is in so much trouble!!!" lol.

I also have reoccurring dreams quite frequently. Not always the exact same scenario, but the same place, and I will remember that i've been there and what happened previously. (Maybe I smoked too much ganja when I was younger or something hehehe)

It's been a while since I have had one of these myself. But I always believed having such dreams is a good indication of how 'self-aware' you are.
