Wonder if the ISS observes things like this ?

Looked over both the Indian newspaper articles cited by the Huffington Post. They give every impression of being in good, coherent, English. I doubt very much that poor translation can be an issue here. English is one of the official languages of India.

Having been subjected to many Chinese lanterns here for years (weddings, events, bonfire parties) the description matches the exact same thing. Coming from the horizon (thanks to the curve of the earth) floating along for a long distance and then vanishing into nowhere! In fact only 4 days ago the local farm held a party and had chinese lanterns that had ghosts painted on them so that it looked like the city was about to be haunted by evil spirits floating by!

Hold on. A yellowish sphere that rises from the horizon and travels over the sky before disappearing? Perhaps possibly over the horizon at the other side.

Not being funny, but I'm pretty sure CHINESE soldiers would know what CHINESE lanterns are......

I know, right! So, what the heck??? They totally look like Chinese lanterns but lanterns usually don't stay in formation... why don't they recognize the lanterns???

Why?!?! :blink::wacko:

I have asked myself genuinely, Do you believe what you have read? Yes and there are many witnesses. Do you think its manmade? It is confirmed not manmade. Do you think its some kind of meteors? Those things can be detected long before it arrives. It has life? Somebody is controlling them. They're Aliens? 99%.

LMAO @ Themolepatrol. Also, is not a well known understanding that ET's have lanterns?

If they were aliens from another world, they were probably thinking that humans in that region of the planet like to Tango because of the high population density. LOL

Top security brass of Indian government battling "mysterious" threat from Chinese side: tennis ball-sized UFOs

Hundreds of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) have been sighted inside the Indian territory bordering China in recent months, raising security concerns. The issue, initially dubbed a minor one, has turned serious as India prepares to raise it at the diplomatic level with China.

This story is certainly hotting up. If this is going to be thrashed out at a diplomatic meeting between India and China, I suspect that we can assume that prosaic explanations like celebratory fire balloons have been carefully ruled out, which is what the article claims. One of the lights was reportedly seen for eight hours. This is remarkably long for UFO, and unthinkably long for a fire balloon. If these were some kind of Chinese surveillance drones, one wonders why they would draw attention to themselves by carrying a light.

lets hope it is just a few celebratory lanterns. In todays world when lights them start appearing it generally means a war is about to brake out!

Do you think its manmade? It is confirmed not manmade.
Who confirmed it was not manmade and how did they confirm this?
Do you think its some kind of meteors? Those things can be detected long before it arrives.
I don't think anyone with a clue would suggest meteors as meteors don't slowly rise over the horizon and move across the sky. Anyway, meteors can't be detected long before that arrive. The vast majority of meteors that are visible are small objects moving extremely fast that burn up quickly in the atmosphere. They aren't detectable as they are far too small and fast and have such a short life-span in the atmosphere that they are generally only 'detected' by being seen by people.
It has life? Somebody is controlling them. They're Aliens? 99%.

How do you know it has life and that if somebody is controlling that the 'somebody' isn't humans?

These "yellowish spheres" are very perplexing.

If no other object is seen attached to them, this probably rules out the possibility of them being light or engines of "otherworldly craft".

Any other sightings of UFOs that look like saucers, space craft, ect. have a better chance of making some sense out them.

That article explains the situation much better. Oie has to wonder, if these are tennis sized balls of light, the expressed fear seems rather an over exaggeration.

Scientists however say, the harsh geography and sparse demography of the great Himalayan range that separates Kashmir Valley from Ladakh, lends itself to unusual sightings. "The region is snowbound in winter, has few roads and is one of the most isolated places in India," says Sunil Dhar, a geologist at the government Post Graduate College in Dharamshala, who has studied glaciers in the region for 15 years.

Yet, none of the experts from the National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO)-in charge of technical intelligence-and Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO), has been able to identify the objects. This has caused embarrassment rather than fear in the establishment. "Something is clearly wrong, if our combined scientific resources can't explain the phenomena," says a senior Army official in Delhi. Intelligence officials say these objects could be a crude psychological operation by China, or sophisticated probes attempting to ascertain India's defences in Ladakh.

I often onder what Giorgio thinks of all the memes of him.

Well as we can see not everyone thinks they are alien. And with tennis ball sized ships, they want to be pretty darn small, and perhaps not so much of a threat when one can step upon these alien invader overlords to overcome them.

Army people are getting all up in arms, astronomers are not. That does seem to be something of a pattern with regards to alien claims for conventional phenomena, and has been the case for a very long time. Rathe ironic considering the astronomers are the ones who specialise in space. Are UFO's largely military paranoia?
