Idano Posted November 14, 2012 #6 Share Posted November 14, 2012 At least you can see the big ones, it's the little ones (black widows, brown recluse) that scare me. Still, that's one BFS!!
buckskin scout Posted November 14, 2012 #7 Share Posted November 14, 2012 Do. Want. Must. Purchase. One. Goliath Birdeaters usually run about $100-$120 in the pet trade. For a captive bred spiderling usually about $45 in the pet trade. These are big spider and not the cuddly handable type either. They stridulate, threat display, and kick some of the worst urticating hairs in the business. I know, I had an adult one once.
Pinguin Posted November 14, 2012 #8 Share Posted November 14, 2012 I hate spiders but I find them very fascinating. I would never let a tarantula crawl on my hand or arm. Ever.
glorybebe Posted November 14, 2012 #9 Share Posted November 14, 2012 I hate spiders but I find them very fascinating. I would never let a tarantula crawl on my hand or arm. Ever. I never thought I would, either, but I ended up holding a tarantula. It wasn't that bad and they are fascinating creatures...but, I still don't want one in my house, LOL. Magiclass Posted November 16, 2012 #11 Share Posted November 16, 2012 When I was a kid I kept two Red Knee Tarantulas, each in it's own aquarium. They were called Fred and Wilma. Once a year I would put them together to mate, but alas the babies were always eaten by mum. Ahh, those were the days!
