I saw my nieces and nephew a few weeks ago, and when they ran up to hug me I got watery eyes, and my youngest niece asked so I told her my allergies were just being sensitive. I was late completing and handing in an assignment, and when a fire broke out in the relevant department I obviously grabbed the golden opportunity to lie and said that yes, I had handed my assignment in but it must have got destroyed in the flames. No, I did not start the fire and nobody was hurt (it happened after hours). It was a neat variation on the "dog ate my homework" shtick, and no-one could disprove it. Now, I'd want to improve my eyesight, especially my night vision.
