Car thief handed £2,000 in compensation

A police force had to pay £2,000 in compensation to a car thief after he was bitten by a police dog while in the middle of a break-in.

The unnamed man was injured when he tried to flee after being confronted by a dog handler while breaking into a vehicle in the Meadows area of Nottingham.

It is believed he spent several days in hospital.

The payout came to light following a Freedom of Information request regarding people who had sued Nottinghamshire Police over dog bites in the past three years.

Wasn't the police dog doing its job???

I mean that's like the criminal suing the homeowner because he fell inside the home he was robbing.

it's SLIGHTLY possible that that dog slipped it's handler and attacked without instruction, so like the owner of any dog that did that the Police were liable.

It doesn't seem so in this case but I agree it is possible and the police not being able to discuss the circumstances makes it seem even more suspect .

Number 1 rule when a cop has a dog and tells you to stand still ....... YOU STAND STILL

No, Britain has.

I'm afraid after being ruled by a Lefty Liberal establishment since the 1960s British law is now firmly on the side of the criminal, not the victim.
