What is your favorite short prayer?

42 posts in this topic

Hiya! :)

Am thinking it's probably more because I come from a country where catholics and protestants have traditionally hated one other so don't want to use the same names for the same things. Like obstinate, hateful children.

I always thought that lutherans are like protestants who don't go church very often. :innocent:

Thor, thunder forth in my life! When I would hold back, let me advance; when I would be weak, help me be strong; when I would shun life's pleasures, sharpen my appetite for that which is lusty and good! Help me grow from strength to strength, and teach me, elder brother, how to throw my own hammer and slay the giants who oppose my will!

I frequently use Shepards Prayer...

Alan Shepard the Astronaut - as he was waiting to blast off...

"Oh Lord... Please don't let me screw this up."

I do not pray.

Did you read the question posed carefully, or were you just trying to wind someone up with this declaration?

I keep my prayers private

BUT.......after hearing that one of our Mods and also a Christian regular on these boards - Karlis sadly passed away

So I thought of a short prayer / poem for him

May the angels guide you Karlis on your heavenly journey

May the lord always be with you and watch over your family

Many will miss you, whether they be friend or relation

I hope you now have found your true salvation

I have known you on here for many years

Hearing of your passing, brought me to tears

You will be truly missed

God bless you Karlis

I prefer the Platinum Rule: Treat others as they wish to be treated.

It takes a bit of more work to understand another to begin to realize this.

Well that is part of the Golden rule, for how do we know how to great others unless we actually know how we want to be treated....not as easy as it sounds...I like what you said, good slant.

peace
