Still Waters Posted December 13, 2012 #1 Share Posted December 13, 2012 A new species of small nocturnal primate has been discovered by scientists in Borneo. The primate is a type of slow loris, a small cute-looking animal that is more closely related to bushbabies and lemurs than to monkeys or apes. Uniquely among primates, they have a toxic bite, belying their appearance. http://www.bbc.co.uk/nature/20704172
redhen Posted December 14, 2012 #2 Share Posted December 14, 2012 From the above article; "But the slow lorises' cute appearance also makes them a favoured target of the pet trade" “Whenever people say, 'We mustn't be sentimental,' you can take it they are about to do something cruel. And if they add, 'We must be realistic,' they mean they are going to make money out of it.” ― Brigid Brophy It seems more and more I have occasion to put up this quote, perhaps I should just make it my new sig.
