http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2012/dec/18/ukip-candidate-abortion-for-downs-syndrome

A disability charity has expressed dismay after a Ukip candidate suggested forcing mothers carrying foetuses with Downs syndrome or spina bifida to have abortions to avoid the child being "a burden on the state as well as on the family".

this guy sounds like a disgusting excuse of a human.

A natural evolution of socialized healthcare. As economic times get tougher more and more of this type of thing will be proposed.

This is not a UKIP policy. They suspended the guy straight away so I don't see how that constitutes Nazi like beliefs.

Its not the views or position held by UKIP, but dont let that get in the way of a good headline - these views are solely his own. hes not the first nor the last political candidate of any party to have unpopular views. - myself i dont agree with any of the quotes he made. - i'd like to think UKIP would pull his candidacy, and terminate his party membership. i think he's over stepped the mark fatally wounded himself in any form of politics.

once i read the headlines 'UKIP now third political party in the UK' - I did wonder how long it would take before something like this would happen, the political daggers are out in force.

Yes, it's started. Notice that it was the BBC & Guardian that jumped all over this.....no surprise there.

Funny they never mention any of these though do they :-

Let the negative politics begin.

Hold on. When a child is born with down syndrome or some other birth defects they often require 24hour care. The carer is most likely to be the parents. Over here, our government pays for an outside carer to look after the child (or adult) for a certain amount of hours (20 i think) per week. It was recently ruled that the parents should be paid to care for the child as the human rights bill says you cannot discriminate on the basis of being a family (i.e. the carer gets paid, why shouldn't I?).

So therefore, knowingly bringing a disabled child into this world is equivilent to asking for thousands of dollars a year from the tax payer. I disagree with forcing people into a corner over the issue, but you cannot deny that most children with disablities are a drain on the tax payer to some extent.

That being said, even the most stupid politician should know not to shoot his mouth off over a highly emotional issue such as this.

Edit: I thought i better add that I in no way support forced abortions or eugenic style killing of the "less worthy"

i must confess i put this on just to see the reaction i got from the forums righty tighty community .that said do you really think this idiot would have had the b******s to spout this stupidity if he was the only person in his party to hold these beliefs.these things are discussed among peer groups.to think this is one idiot spouting his own personal opinion in isolation is naive.

itsnotoutthere nice links to some utter scum dressed as politicians .however i was not talking about individual criminality but party opinion and as far as im aware no party representative of any party is speaking out supporting abuseing young girls.well not yet anyway.

a ukip politician did however openly say we should force women to abort supposedly imperfect children .someone wants to tell him that would include most of our inbreed aristocracy there isnt a chin among them.

The report suggests that they initially backed him but then had to do a turnaround due to a "backlash".

The daggers are out. UKIP are a threat, if they are clever enough they will keep their personal views to themselves and do what the people want......not a normal politicians stance, but by now they should know the score when they are narrowing the odds.

If they do not, then they are just as bad as the rest.

What I mean is they're hardly going to try to pain UKIP in a good light.

I predicted that this was going to happen, & the left wing media will step into overdrive as UKIP becomes more popular. It's a tried & tested tactic.

Even the Daily Mail would struggle to put a positive spin on what that bloke said. But the accuracy of the report is important. If the UKIP did initially support him, it doesn't help their image. They're already painted as Nazis by many. You'd think their public image would be more important to them.

From the BBC. No mention of prior knowledge by UKIP http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-20773800

A UKIP spokesman said the party rejected Mr Clark's "abhorrent" views.

"The party was not aware of these views when it allowed him to stand under our name," he said.

"Mr Clark has been formally suspended as a UKIP candidate and will not be standing for the party again.

"We would like to apologise to anyone who has suffered distress as a result of this matter."

That would be the Guardian & to a lesser extent the BBC. As I have said, that is a tried & tested tactic used against anybody right of centre.

i like the swiftness at which UKIP operate, within 24 hours they've acted - unlike the other political parties who would dilly dally for days or weeks trying to spin their way out of trouble.

It's not much different from Labour MPs childishly pulling faces, mocking and laughing at Conservative MP for Blackpool Paul Maynard during PMQs because he has cerebral palsy.
