Ice Age cats ate well… until they died out

10 posts in this topic

Sabre-toothed cats and other Ice Age predators were well fed and flourishing just before they died out, according to new research.

The evidence, from a study of the animals' teeth, deepens the mystery surrounding the "megafaunal extinction" that wiped out legions of large beasts in North America.

LMAO Still Waters, when I read the thread title I thought 'well, they were alive until they were dead.'

I just copied the heading from the article, but on first glance it does read a bit funny :D

Oh come now - " long thought to have been wiped out by a lack of food brought about by human hunting and climate change" Alarmist global warming 'human bad' propaganda, thankfully put to rest by actual science. Now all we need is the real reason Ice Age Predators went extinct. I vote act of God.

No mystery that the Pliocene-Pleistocene boundary was bad news for the megafauna. But when I learned about it, there wasn't much emphasis placed on the human involvement in it. Much more a function of the glaciation. Not a huge mystery...

EDIT: I also have always had a problem with the overkill theory. For that theory to make any sense, Africa would've been wiped out of megafauna the fastest of any continent. And that obviously didn't happen.

<>A Time-Travel, Missing-Link, & Alien-Invasion Wonder<>

Time-Travel: Might fit information not be bound by time & space & so occur anywhere? If also questions & answers crystallize simultaniously tho at different times, might then it be also that history expands behind us as does universe ahead, & from the beginning all not be complete yet? Wonder without manmade machines do we time travel, back into the past, even anywhere, & all the time even civilisation at a time, & are we & environment no less information what can't be bound? ..Does to be careful of ourselves create us consciousness & for fear of environment, are we envronment? & will to tell lies or believe 1 create holes in our reasoning(information), & at the same time even if 1 were to know everything - another person or even another new early spontanious generation of a species similar to ours be the next fronteer anyway? Now we hear of evolution happening in what is the only perceived forward motion through time, but is all of history constantly changing & being updated, & we too rediscribed, & not realise as each environment we're according to?

Missing-Links (So as the lion survived after the sabortooth as we did after neanderthals, here is a wonder): Perhaps had neanderthals & sabortooth lived from beginning to an end of the world without us once, where information wouldn't include us to be anywhere apon the earth? ..not anyway till another earth round only to exist according to prior earth information which is our past ? So wonder are late neanderthals & sabortooth, & the old last heaven & earth -the link which is missing between early man & neanderthal, & also early early lion & sabortooth? & be we the only trace of ourselves at any 1 given time, give or take, & shall we b the next missing link to a future nother next sapien? (Did u know that there's a quarter of mars that if mirror imaged looks like the face of a lion? C the egyptians used the image of a lion to build their sphynx, to guard them from the underworld aswel, so i wonder each lifeform to each it's own place it was created, & if history expands then whole species might they then perish at certain times & not be supposed to come back?)

Aliens: If we all saw aliens, would it only happen once? If we sent children from the planet who afterall needed to come home, tho had lived fewer generations than us in the time frame? & would the world not remember them as man as to it they'll have had vacated ages? (Is leaving the planet for so long in line with messing-with-nature?) Might so these children also be the elders of the rest of our species what are left on earth & lived a longer time ahead of them here, & their hunch be to exterminate us for to be the alternative missing-link? As if this does not happen could they possibly never belong to to exist on earth again? ..Another sinario might be if for a great massacre in the future say, we be now who we'v been all along instead, & the time traveller be inside us all, & inside the man who steven hawkings invited to a dinner party he expected to be a timetraveller ..Steven Hawkings himself? (Not tho to say that telepathy doesn't exist further than even our universe away & that we're not partially alien also , from elsewhere).

(..continued from above) .. um, would this mean if children spent fewer generations than us came back in the next spontanious generation of us instead of us , that they would b from the underworld like neanderthals&sabortooth would b if they'd continued on into lion&man teritory?
