Mr Right Wing Posted January 2, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 2, 2013 Was the universe born in a black hole ? Click here to watch video - 02:27s Professor Lee Smolin from the Perimeter Institute gives his theory on the beginning of the universe. Theres a problem with black holes in science. For some reason which I've never been able to figure out many people, including some leading scientists, see them as actual holes. If the amount of energy and matter in the universe decreased or increased (what you're proposing) then physics would be violated. Furthermore if they really were holes then they wouldnt radiate off exotic negative energy (Hawking radiation). If they had no mass they wouldnt be able to curve space-time (gravity) and they wouldnt orbit other objects like planets do. A black hole is a super-dense star. I personally think theres another type of supernova that can exist and its being mistaken for the big bang. Basically a super-colossal star going kaboom. That would mean the universe is far bigger than what we think accounting for all the energy and mass thought to be missing from the universe in our current models.
