Another view on socialism vs libertarianism

There is a very good reason why people who live in cities tend to be liberal while those who live in rural areas tend to be conservative. In a city, the existence of nearby neighbors, the shared dependence on infrastructure and the close proximity of police stations automatically lends itself to a socialist mindset. On issues like guns, city people seem to be unable to imagine why anyone would "need" a rifle, for example, and because all guns scare them, they would prefer to force everyone across the country to turn them all in.

OK so I made up the word "libertarianism" (and I own the copyright to it so if you wanna use it, got to pay big buck here..) it doesn't exist but ith should. After all we have socialism communism conservatism so why not libertarianism... sound so special. Back on topic, I think Mike Adams has a big point here and perhaps those city dwellers for Washington should listen to them.

Iv actually been tyrin to explain this to people for a long time glad someone somewere agrees with me. Cities depend on goverment more so they tend to want bigger goverment. Rural areas dont need goverment so they dont feel a need to have a bigger one. And suburbs kinda need some goverment and kinda dont witch is why there vote is normally split.

It's our strange need to federalize everything, people of such strong faith in their own political opinions that they should be imposed on everyone, Washington DC's one-size-fits-all cookie-cutter society is what leads to this important battle of ideologies.

I agree with you completely and I think cities should have just as much government as they like without imposing themselves on people outside of cities who deserve the exact same consideration.

The thing that gets me is that there are probably at least 40% of city populations that are rural minded. It's just that they will never be the majority. Those that have no trust of government are more likely not to vote than those that know how to manipulate the system to get more dole. Although, some 8 million (?) Obama voters from last time didn't have the awareness to vote this time. Perhaps we do deserve the government we elect!
