Once in the Kansas City Nelson Gallery I saw on loan a painting that was so over the top that it took my breath away, but haven't been able to find it since in any book or whatever.

It incorporated elements of structures from ancient Rome, Greece, Egypt, Babylon, what have you, all together as though in the same city. Incredibly ornate and, as I said, completely over the top. I loved it and would dearly love help finding it again. I've been back to Kansas City a couple of times but it was on loan so then it was gone.

I like anything by Thomas Kinkade, his paintings are beautiful and peaceful to look at. We have a couple of small prints of his in our living room.

HWell they're not paintings ,but I love some of Audubons prints. His owls ,his hummingbirds ,his,American Parrot.

Then I love Marc Chagall . Too many to mention ,but bouquet of flowers comes to mind .

Then Henry Fuselis The Nightmare .

I like many artists . I would have to think a while to come up with all of them .

I do like many of Van goghs as well.

A few picasso and Cezanne.

I can't think of any "great art" that I haven't liked, except perhaps a few overly endowed nudes that seem to me the Victorian equivalent of porn.

I remember wandering loosely through the Fogg at Harvard and my eye being caught by a smallish painting on one wall and thinking, wow, that's nice. When I went closer it turned out to be a Rembrandt somewhat modestly hung among works of a lot of lesser-knowns. I was very pleased with myself.

I am endlessly inspired by the portraits of Joshua Reynolds, particular his portraits of Mary Robinson as Perdita and Sarah Siddons as the Tragic Muse (a print of which is in my living room). I adore 18th and 19th century portraiture and they hang all over our house, because my husband is very patient.

The language of portraiture is endlessly fascinating to me and there are so many hidden symbols and meanings; I really like the marriage paintings that basically served as a shop window to advertise eligible young ladies and one of these hangs above my desk in the shape of The Ladies Waldegrave, another Reynolds.
