ExpandMyMind Posted January 28, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2013 Dubai's fascination with bombastic architecture has moved below sea level thanks to the announcement of The Water Discus -- billed as the world's largest underwater hotel. With an aesthetic not too many light years removed from the Starship Enterprise and an evacuation mechanism not dissimilar to that of a cafetiere plunger in reverse, the design by Polish firm Deep Ocean Technology reveals a hotel split into two parts -- one permanently above the water and the other capable of submerging to a depth of 10 metres. The submersible part of the hotel is intended to contain 21 hotel rooms as well as an underwater diving facility and a bar. Deep Ocean Technology are also keen to point out that from this location visitors will be able to observe the minutiae of the lives of their aquatic neighbours: "Special lighting system of the area around the room and the miniature underwater vehicles which can be operated from inside will allow you to take a closer look at even the most microscopic underwater creatures using macro photography." http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2013-01/28/underwater-hotel
freetoroam Posted January 28, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2013 Wonder if I could get a free room for a night, I have bought enough oil over the years to help them build it......come on, it doesn`t even have to be the penthouse suite.

+and-then Posted January 28, 2013 #4 Share Posted January 28, 2013 Sounds a cool idea I wonder how long before Hollywood comes knocking to make a horror flick?
Ashotep Posted January 28, 2013 #5 Share Posted January 28, 2013 I would like to spend the night there. It would be fun watching the wildlife go about their lives and how they interact with each other. Glad they added curtains because I don't know if I would want them watching me all the time, not to mention the other guests.
